Equal quantities icing sugar and borax - set out in little aluminium trays where pets/kids can’t get to them. Ants will carry the stuff back to the nest and destroy it. Grateful to Sir Lister of Smeg from the other site for this tip - it works well with a bit of repetition.

We have a premade ant poison thing which I think is basically the same (I think the active ingredient listed was borax?). After neutralizing all known threat actors terrorizing the local food supply, these measures were deployed to safeguard the civilian population from future unprovoked attacks o7

I’m all 😍 with people’s pet pics! Keeping my mind off the fact that I’ve had an allergic/contact dermatitis reaction to a cream I was using on my facial burns 😭 For a while there I had ouchy annoying weeping burn coupled with OMG I want to scratch my face apart going on. Now have calmed it down a lot, might actually get a good sleep tonight 🥱. That cool breeze through the window is very welcome. I made a bluesky account and have been looking through some stuff. Don’t know if it’s something I’ll do on the regular, but it’s interesting until I get sick of it I guess.

look at that curly tummy on Bill😻 and Ted is looking good since I changed his diet, his skin is less irritated, he’s less cranky as a result and doesn’t mind being brushed as much

Alright, so edibles question. My doc recommended trying gummies which arrived today. They are 10mg thc/10mg CBD. I’m not really across what this equates to in terms of strength… Obviously edibles are slow onset, but how strong is this going to end up being in comparison to other methods of consuming (smoking, vaping etc)… I’ve had edibles exactly once 25 years ago, and they tasted so nice that I did the have way too much thing. Not wanting that to happen with these…

Try one out on the weekend at home then you’ll get an idea of strength and how long it last etc.

Dog goes to the door when asked if he wants to play. As soon as he gets outside, he runs straight to a patch of grass and starts munching on it, unfazed by toys.

He’s been doing well, I’ve had the aircon on for him all through the heatwave. I let him out (pic above) when the cool change came in, hence he’s getting a good nap in after dinner haha

You should see the layers of blankets my Pepper sleeps on, it’s the princess and the pea come to life. And to think she was sleeping rough as a kitten before we found her makes me add another blanket every other day!

Woohoo, pakige! After inexplicably not getting one for over a decade since leaving home (despite growing up religiously using one), I finally got my own Borner V-slicer. Shipped direct from Germany no less - admittedly using Evil Bezos (I had a gift card).

    yay

I can’t wait to slice up the rest of the daikon and carrot for a MUCH better-looking pickle. And then chunky batons of beetroot to make into a curry. And cabbage for a stir fry… no more questionable knifework!

I only really hope the latest models haven’t fallen to enshittification. My mum and aunt have been using their older ones for like 20 years now.

the Borner is the original and best , my mum had one and I remember using it myself to help with the family cooking. I now have one myself , but another brand , and it’s indispensable for cutting oranges, lemons and limes for marmalade

They have apparently made them a lot safer (especially with storage - you can now store all the pieces safely without exposing your fingers to the blades)

But yeah my grandma absolutely refused to use them back in the day no matter how convenient they are. I’ve definitely nicked myself in the past.
