  • Pretty much. Basically put a strip of masking tape along the cut edges, stitch to the seam allowance then rip off the tape from each side of the seam line. Holds the fabric flat and the feed dogs grip very well on it. Then it unzips beautifully. Use painters tape or masking tape as they leave no residue. Tape can be marked with biro for matching pieces together before seaming. Doesn’t work too well for rolled hems though. But for doing sheer curtains or other flat seaming it’s a game changer.

  • Yeah, back when I was starting doing these, I was told that a cryptic clue ALWAYS had two parts - one indicating the meaning and the other the method. Part of the puzzle was working out which was which. And to be alert for puns: a flower does not necessarily have roots in the ground - it could be water running downhill and so on.

  • Complete shit. Mostly the underwear. And vastly overpriced for the ‘quality’. Don’t even bother with their socks/underpants - go to Kmart/Target for those. Kmart has good bamboo fibre socks, my last lot from there has lasted about 3 years on high rotation which is good for socks I reckon. Bonds still has reasonable trackie daks and hoodies.

  • Grip with one hand on each side. Support lid with palms and fish around with finger tips to find the little latches inside that hold it shut. Push latch(es) in and finish raising the lid. Alternatively, raise one side by a few cms, when that releases raise the other side. Insert blue block. Replace lid until it clicks. Disinfect hands. Easy. Used to have one of these.
