Hot tea being spilled left and right at work today, I love hearing the drama when I’m not a part of it!
☕💅🏼
Holidays are officially over - just got my first debt collection call of the year.
Optus sold my debt to them, I never paid my last bill due to the Optus data leaks. Sorry not sorry.
I’m never gonna buy a house or anything, or take out a loan, so why should I care? Besides that, my only debts are HECS/HELP and my TAFE fee (which I pay in installments by DD every month).
YOLO 🤷🏼♀️
I’ve got something outstanding (student union stuff) from latrobe uni from about 10 yrs ago. $111. they sent it to me 5 years after finishing the course lol. No letter, no email. Just sold it off to billchaser. 5 years! Get spammed every few days over sms. I should block the # but they make me feel loved. I ain’t payin’.
The kid’s gone away for 3 nights and ngl I’m actually excited.
naked drunk pizza party!
All the good things rolled into one there!
There’s a kfc ad where the party goers are dancing and eating at the same time. I’ve never done that even while pissed. Not that I’m aware of anyway.
I do a GREAT awkward shuffle with a doughnut in my hand as I discovered at the last wedding I attended.
😂
I mean we’ve all done a little happy food dance from time to time but these idiots were full on raging with a drumstick in hand. No one loves kfc that much.
Also it’s always a drumstick. Never a shitty breast or micro wing.
I dunno. I train with some islander lads, that would dance with food. Not stereotyping, they’re just happy party people that like to eat.
😂
There’s that joke about a van load of kiwis going through the drive thru and the driver orders a bucket, a few sides and 1.25Lt Pepsi and then turns around in his seat and says “ok kids. What do you guys want”?
Turns out it’s actually true.
So here’s the gossip.
One of the remaining 3 (of which i am one) account managers resigned.
So his clients get divided up between me and the other one.
Yay.
can you decline?
Nope. Not with my probation 10 days away.
So what happens after your probation ends in 10 days?
What options do you have at that point?
I have a better position to negotiate as they can’t just fire me on the spot.
And now that I’m one of only 2 account managers it strengthens my bargaining position. This team should have 4 people. Not 2.
Ah ok. Will you stay or look for another place?
Seems like the place is being gutted at the moment.
I need to stay long enough to move house. It’s near impossible to be approved for a rental whilst on probation.
Please tell me they are at least openly looking for another?! You’re already stretched so thin!
Who knows. I only found out because my co worker told me. Nothing from management about it.
Of course not! Just keep breathing, probation is nearly up!
I found emails from a director here to customers advising that someone had left the business 2 hours before it was announced to staff.
This happened in December and they haven’t said anything to us. Which is pretty bad…
That’s so shit!
Alright, doctor booked for this stupid migraine thing. Gonna get the physio to take a look as well.
Mine came from a shoulder injury.
thats just it, no new injury or anything like that I’m aware of. So I figured getting assessed isnt a bad idea.
Getting assessed it a great idea! In my early 20s I had months of chronic exploding head migraines, auras, blindness, vomiting from pain. Had an MRI and CT scan with nothing there. Dr gave me a big fat script for codeine - I understand why people get addicted to it, let’s put it that way.
Determined it was stress induced from living with my unmedicated schizophrenic mum 😂 haven’t had them like that since I moved out and went NC. There so many factors that can cause migraines, so getting checked out is always a fantastic idea!
Fingers crossed it’s nothing serious!! 💜💜
That’s definitely a good idea mate. Also I would press for an MRI as well. For peace of mind.
lovely day here, think I might go to bunnings and get some orchid mix :)
I have stuff to do but I might take a break for a few days
Could you grab me a roll of fallopian tubing and a metric adjustable spanner?
on train
one guy singing what sounds like a prayer softly to himself
one woman on the phone in English but switches to demon beast growling occasionallyMaybe there are no words in English to express what she needs to say. Or there’s a demon beast on the other end…
How far is too far to travel for a job?
I saw an ad for a job that’s about 45 minutes one way by car (non-peak) and around an hour and a half by PTV. It is similar to my former uni commute in peak times. It would only be for two days a week so maybe it wouldn’t be that bad.
I used to go to a specialist high school a 15 min drive away from where I was living. About an hour and 15 by PT, but I usually preferred to take a simpler way with less running (required to make those connections), which bumped it up to about an hour and a half to an hour 45 depending on how fucked the trains were that particular morning.
I think that personally an hour and a half on a train is okay, 2h max, but if it’s peak hour and a packed train, that drastically goes down and reduces to about half an hour. By car, I’d be okay with an hour as a passenger, but 30 minutes would probably be my preferred limit as a driver. But I’m still a learner, so by the time I was a full license holder, I would probably be okay with an hour as a driver as well
I guess it also depends on a few other things, though. How’d you find the uni commute? Did you find it draining? I ask because some people find travelling alone to be draining, and if you’re going to waste half your energy on trying not to road rage in a traffic jam, do you really want that to immediately precede your work? Or are you the sort of person that finds that kind of useful - like a chance to listen to a bit of pump up music and invigorate some energy into yourself before getting on the grind for the rest of the day?
Another thing to think of: what’s your start time, and how much time do you need each morning? Personally, I need at least an hour in the morning before I can tolerate human interaction, and about 20 before I’ve officially woken up from sleep. So if I had an 8am start time and 45 minute commute, I’d round that up to an hour for a bit of margin, and then I’d be waking up between 6-6:30 each day. But I also know people who’ll get up as soon as their alarm goes off, take a quick 5 minute dunny run, 2 minute shower, then they’re out the door less than 10 minutes after waking up
Only something you can answer for yourself.
I’ve known people who have driven from point cook to get into work though admittedly it wasn’t the best logistically.
It’s what you can tolerate and how badly you want the job or need the money.
It’s completely personal. For me a 45 min drive twice a week would be completely ok, especially for the right job. Easy actually. Lots of people do this or more everyday. I wouldn’t do the 1.5hr PT, double the commute time isn’t appealing since I have car and don’t mind driving. But if I didn’t have the car option might be ok for twice a week. 1.5hrs each way 5 days a week would probably be a no for me at this point in my work life. But entirely depends on how good this opportunity is for you. Is it something not easily found, or good pay, chance to progress your career etc?
Depends on how many days in the office. I gottta commute into town ends up being ~1.5 hours door to door 1 way. Fine twice a week, but any more than that starts to become pretty unfeasible.
It’s doable. As long as there’s parking you can make the drive work for yourself and it’s good to know you can get there by public transport if necessary.
If you were doing that trip more than 2 days it would suck
That would be my limit personally (if that driving is not stop start). I did 2 days /week with a similar driving commute except it was 45 min peak, I was able to handle it but I absolutely wouldn’t have done an extra day - did turn that down when it was offered. Eventually left it in favour of a job with a 5-15 min commute and I wouldn’t trade it for the world…
An hour each way is bearable I think, but does depend on a few things.
If I’m driving for an hour, I want to be driving. Not sitting in traffic. Used to work in Geelong and it was like an hour door to door. It was great, but also going against traffic.
Had a great time in Melbourne. The Jurassic World exhibition was a lot of fun. Took little one into the city and the National Art Gallery which she enjoyed.
But more importantly, Slurpees were a hit and she is more convinced than ever to move back to Melbourne.
shoulda sold her on the aldi middle isle. thats what gets my inlaws haha

Oh man it’s weird logging back into the work laptop. Will take a few days to get back into the swing of things I reckon
My Monday is going to be Wednesday and I’m mildly dreading it - even though I was back last week for two days it’s like they never happened.
What I’m dreading more is getting myself ready for uni fieldwork and writing up parts of the paper… brain has totally switched off from that.
I’m struggling to navigate outlook and SharePoint😁
took me halfa to remember which app was chat and which was email the other week.
I was tempted to log in last night to get a head start, but then quickly slapped myself back to reality
Hour and half into my day and it’s brutal. Logging in makes me feel like I never had a break.
We had a few people pull out of their booked windows 11 upgrade appointments. Told my team we should still push it as an update anyway and when they complain shrug and say “sorry, pulling out isnt always effective”.
🤭
😂
Hahaha do it.

thank gates/jobs for a fingerprint login.
The staff at the place I was at a few moves ago had a fingerprint sensor to clock on. It was about a decade old, and by the time I moved out, was really really struggling to scan anybody’s fingerprints. Lucky for them, it didn’t do auto lockouts, but the bright sparks also had the bright idea to remove the option to clock on with a number after a couple of years of being fingerprint only. Which was fine until it cracked the shits
Also, don’t want to think about how many filthy fingers went in there 🤢
Back to work today…about 300 odd emails to get through, thankfully less than 25% will be pertinent.
An old colleague reached out to me over the weekend, regarding a role at his current work (large company, pretty cool project). Emailed their recruiting person to get some more details about it.
Good news is, clothes might actually dry today outside!!
First day of the new job. I’m going to approach it with zero expectations.
One of the first things I’m going to do is login to everything on the work pc. Even if I’m just browsing aussie.zone, manager logic is I’m being productive if I’m on the computer, you’re only slacking off on your phone
Good luck mate!
My initial impression is I could see myself working here long term as long as the day to day doesn’t suck. And it may not be too bad
Hope it goes well!
It just feels a bit weird to get my head around this could be long term. Having just come out of a contract I keep approaching jobs like they’re a temporary thing
Good luck! Hope they’re nice and not too obviously crazy.
If anything they seem normie on the boring side. Every workplace likes to think they’re a bit quirky and messed up but this is standard from what I’ve seen
