I don’t think I’ve seen a more blatant example of main character syndrome than seeing real estate agents putting themselves into videos showing the house they’re selling.

And I don’t mean talking about the house. They’re in the video sitting on the couch or opening the door to enter with all this dramatic music playing, or staring out from the balcony all reflective and stuff.

    Good lord.

They know they add no actual value to the house, so they need validate themselves by adding perceived value.

I’ll have to see if I can find it but I remember seeing one near my place where the person (not sure if agent or owner) was sitting in the bath tub, topless on the bed (facing away). Absolutely bizarre behaviour

A woman I used to work with lived in Kew in a very nice street with a lot of very nice neighbours - included politicians and captains of industry. Her agapanthus bed kept getting raided by plant pirates. She tucked a placard at the back of the bed saying Smile! You’re On Candid Camera! Raids stopped. I mean, who nicks agapanthus?

Probably having my final assessment for my new role today, to see if they’ll set me loose on the general public. Has been three weeks training so far. I am exhausted. I’ve been up since 2.30 tossing and turning stressing about it, picturing scenarios in my head etc. I’ll get other chances if I don’t pass but would be nice to rip the band aid off

Haven’t had the heart to tell my supervisor at this job that I’m seriously mentally struggling atm. I’m off for a week from Friday night so I feel like I should see how I go with that before I go any further. I think I’m going to have to leave one of my jobs and cut down my overall hours to make this work, but it’s really bad timing in terms of workload…

Tonight’s mood booster is some peri peri mock-chicken strips bought on a whim yesterday. I shall throw a zucchini in there for helth, and half an onion, and… idk. Eat it with rice… cooked in broth! With cloves and cardamom! (I highly recommend the latter for really elevating even the simplest rice dish.)

Also just remembered I stress-bought frozen dumplings last night. I’m set for lunch tomorrow, woohoo!

They are. I try to keep a clean garden. :)

One thing that has happened tho is since I stopped feeding birds there has been an explosion of aphids, I stopped because my neighbour didn’t like the mess.

I’m going to feed the birds again and bring some balance back.

Ah, I stand corrected. Mums whole sideway was full of all kinds of orchids, but when I had to sell her house due to the Will being contested I had to get rid of almost all of them. There were so many of them I was struggling to find homes for them. I was selling them for $5-$10 each and people were still haggling and quibbling! In the end I gave a lot of them away because I was heavily pregnant by then and running out of time to move. She had huge gardenias in pots I virtually gave away, and Waratahs and a motherload of different types of Camellias and lots of other things. I could only bring a handful of plants with me because my MIL said there wasn’t the room and didn’t want pots damaging the concrete and shitty old paving, and Mr P and his mum managed to kill most of those anyway. Sorry about the plant rant, it’s an experience that almost broke me as a person, and I’m still heartbroken. I looked up her house years later on Google maps and the new owners had ripped out the whole garden, 30 years of work. I watered and weeded that garden as a child ☹️ It’s interesting what these things mean to us.

Yeah, that’s pretty much it. Get him to take his temperature and adjust meds as needed. Make sure he’s eating (eggs and chicken are doing the job). It’s way easier than a toddler.

It was quite gradual, so you don’t really notice until one day you do notice and then you need a moment to gather yourself.

The journey was all worth it. I still look back at hiking photos from like 4 years ago and kids look like totally different people.

The best part is that they can help out with stuff. This Friday I’ve got some minor maintenance items to attend to at home, and my son will be helping whether he likes it or not.
