Kind of glad uni fieldwork ended early today, I’m so fried. Bad news is some setbacks re method, good news is we’ve gotten a lot more context and some real direction with where to go from here. It’s late in the scheme of things but at least this project feels more real now, for all its numerous flaws

I don’t use spotify but I think I’ll spare everyone my music ‘wrap’ today :)

But this is for the Studspud:

Jumping from chilli to chilli leaving a wake of aphid destruction. The leaf curl you see could be aphids… or used be heh.

Good to see them in there on their own accord.

You’ve taught your kid well if this is your influence! I went through phases discovering each of these bands. Aaah good times. My most prized vinyl in my collection is The Queen Is Dead, original 1986 pressing.

She is impressed as much as a teenager can be.

Her: I’m so glad you parents aren’t normal. My friends mums listen to Fox fm and shit but you guys play cool stuff.

Husband and I look at each other: I think that’s a compliment dear.

My Spotify wrapped has been disappointing me over the past few years. I used to have such an eclectic music taste, but getting older I’m listening to what’s familiar to me a bit too much. I don’t like the complacency.

Going to spend the next few weeks saving some new music to listen over the holidays, and listening to albums I’ve saved over the year but never bothered to listen. Currently listening to Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk, for fans of synth-pop and prog-rock this one is for you.

Ahaha, mine is out of control.

Top songs were all songs in English by non-English artists: Thai, Cambodian, Taiwanese and Korean.

My top artists were: Tanerélle, Limi, WIM, Sleep Token and Keshi. 🤣

I forgot I listened to so much Tanerélle this year.

But I listen to such a wide variety, it’s not really a surprise.

Spotify recommends stuff you already play so that’s why I ask the DT for new stuff. The only new artist that I really really like is Dua Lipa.

Discover weekly and the radio channels (where you click the radio button based on a specific song and it plays more songs like it) are how I find a lot of new music

I put it on as background noise while I’m doing other things and if I start bobbing my head, I probably like a song

Ha! I had the impression you didn’t think much of her after that chat. You’re in an exclusive club now of being one of the only Australians who knows who she is - though she was pretty big in Europe at the time. Now that the kids are both playing instruments, this sort of music is getting played a bit on our end, also.

I love how hardly anything in your top songs was released after your birth.

ABBA was huge when I was a teen and the biggest demographic of fans then was old people, at least 40. No teen ever copped to buying ABBA records.

So that would make Baku at 85+

I open curtains as much as possible in spring because light disinfects and light is good for mood

once it’s hot days in summer I can close them a bit

On hot days the blinds stay down usually. I prefer a naturally cooled house to AC.

taught tinyset to “cheers” last night. thought it was gonna take a while over a couple of days but he kept stopping eating dinner to do it. He doesnt always say cheers, but about 50% of the time he does. thank god i was drinking water or i’d be under the table!

It’s funny how they copy you and how literal they are. I wanted my son to close the recycling so I closed it with my foot because that was easier for me, I thought he’d push it closed with his hands at his height. Nope, he had to try push the recycling closed with his foot as well

Oh yeah you gotta be super careful with how you act hey. Terrified of him learning to drive like his mum.

They’re so adorable at that age! Brains are literal sponges and it’s just amazing to see them grow and get smarter and smarter! I think your raising a fine lil dude!

you arnt wrong. hes recently started to work on communication, not just saying words. He will sometimes try copy what you say, he wants to learn the pets names. its crazy how he went from a crying potato last year to this confident toddler in like 12 months.

I lost my birth certificate AND my passport so I had to jump on Vic Birth Death Marriages website and jump through hoops (on my own end) to order a new birth certificate. My god what a horrible, unintuitive website. I have no idea if I’ve done it correctly or if it is being processed now or not.

I had to do that too a few years ago, because mum lost my actual birth certificate and I only had the extract, which is useless for everything.

Pain in the ass tbh, and gathering from this their website is still a pile of steaming shit. Sorry man, just commiserating because it sucks assssss
