I’ve had my Mum’s vegetable soup since I moved out of home permanently at age 22. 28 years ago.
Today I finally made it.
Couldn’t fit in the pumpkin and I know I won’t get any rice in at the end but it’s ok. Added some minced garlic but stuck to the recipe otherwise.
Not exciting but warm and familiar and chunky.
Added bonus: my 9yo son is eating it! He can be ultra cautious with anything new. So watching him scoff it down is pretty heartwarming.
If i may ask - why are you a foot
I got the dirt on my new client.
Very high maintenance and will argue down to the hour for project work.
Everyone I mentioned it to yesterday gave me this look and laughed lol. And word travelled really quickly around the office.
Document everything.
Absolutely. Calls are followed up in writing to get agreement to points of discussion. Extreme, but need a paper trail.
I look forward to the inevitable malicious compliance post
will argue down to the hour for project work.
I swear by Grindstone for time tracking. I’ve been using it for many years.
That looks really interesting. Cheers!
Melbourne has had its face washed, and the sunshine is glorious!
New corporate buzzword I absolutely despise - Journey
It’s not a fucking journey. It’s a process.
Stop trying to make boring shit appeal interesting. It’s boring, but that’s a how it is. Changing the label doesn’t make it exciting.
I’d put that on the backburner but to shy away from jargon like that is a paradigm shift.
We could loop in and should probably table it. It is low hanging fruit but still requires a deep dive.
It might be worth circling back at a later date, to see what stakeholder uptake is like. Don’t forget it’s important to view these things through an organisational lens to ensure maximum buy-in.
You deserve a kick to the throat for that.
With all due respect of course.
Just make it swift.
Wellbeing and mindfulness riles me up when it gets mentioned at work because it generally isn’t thought of and cared for and often at odds with people’s actions no matter how much they scream they’re looking out for people.
Add holistic to that as well.
As much I hate those words and phrases, I hate the wankers that lap it up.
Grrrrr
@Duenan @MeanElevator
I am grateful I can practise heartfulness.
It’s really important for me to engage with others at an emotional level. Too much mind interferes with the flow of feelings, so I try not to think while I’m at work.
“We are mapping out the customer experience journey” is such a dramatic way to describe designing a form …
Everything at my work is viewed through a ‘lens’ atm - it’s driving me nuts.
We are not photographers!!
😂
@MeanElevator @Seagoon_
A manager might say your statement is reason to enter a conversation.Conversation, my aching foot! That’s corporate speak for performance management.
No one will be entering me under any circumstances 😁
You ever feel like you made a wrong turn somewhere, but now you’ve started on a career pathway, have a stupid fuck off hecs debt, can’t afford therapy, and feel like it’s too late to go back? That you’re struggling with your job, don’t have any real reference point as to whether it’s normal, and just kinda wish you had another option?
Today was not a good day.
Two wrong turns at least.
True, I had to choose my degree at some point
We’ve all been there at various levels. Hang in there. 💪🏻
I chose two wrong degrees.
Yes. I’d completed most of my first uni course before realising what I really wanted to do.
No choice but to finish the course.
I started a BA because I didn’t get into the course I wanted to and didn’t know what else to do, then had a breakdown and didn’t finish it anyway. Waste of time and I’ve never earned enough to pay it back :(
I’ve been in existential crisis for decades. So I reckon normal.
💀
Edit: home now, playing breach wanderers. Today was good.

I hope it went well ❤️

International shipping to Australia is so fucking expensive, even for small things. We really are at the ass end of the world.
It is ridiculous.
I looked at having a small 100g roll of tape from a Japanese video game company I really liked forwarded from Japan once. Fucking 40 bucks for shipping. The tape itself is only the equivalent of 6 bucks. I asked why, and apparently it’s because FedEx have a large minimum shipment size and weight or something. They refused to use Japan Post, which would’ve been like a 40th of the price.
Also paid 15 bucks in postage to get more melatonin from the states. Not that bad, relative, but the entire package, including box, is less than 100g.
When shipping costs more than the goods itself, you start to question, hmm do I need it that bad?
Nah, you just channel your inner boomer, and rant about the price of things these days and how no government has done anything right since Harold Holt was the prime minister back in 1967
And look what happened to him!
I have a sample of Lancome moisturiser that’s too rich for my skin, so I used it as hand cream since I’d run out out, and my hands feel lovely.
I looked this stuff up out of idle interest, with no intention of ever purchasing it:
It’s $575. For a 60ml tub of moisturiser.
I’m horrified. Are there really people out there who pay that much just for moisturiser? When so many can barely afford food? I’m spiralling a bit. But wow.
I use either savlon or a cheap lanolin. Lanolin in nearly exactly the same as our natural skin oils and works very well.
expensive doesn’t necessarily means awesome
Surely there’s a dupe.
I’ll stick to my cheapo Cetaphil from the chemist for now I reckon.
I thought my $15 (only buy it when it’s 1/2 price) 100ml Bulldog moisturiser was expensive…
Holy moley! I have a ‘special’ moisturiser that costs $50 bucks but I only buy it every now and then because its too expensive. That’s a whole other level
I leave this for your consideration.
Edit: I have not and never will buy this item. (Knew a woman who worked selling this stuff at a department store counter.) I feel guilty buying a $20 hand or face cream!
Can’t sleep, am lung hacking snot monster. Don’t know if allergy thing or a bug. Gross either way.
Why not both ? I got floored by hayfever on top of the tail end of a bad head cold. Bless the flying spaghetti monster for antihistamines!
You may well be correct. I don’t like taking them as they make me feel weird, but breathing is kind of important.
allergy, even Bill Cat is suffering with it
Poor Bill Cat. Don’t know if cats are allowed Phenergan but it’s helping considerably. Still feel like shit though.
Gratitude thread :)
Grateful for Stardew Valley (even though I did spend three hours playing tonight). It helps me take my mind off of bullshit thoughts.
Grateful I took the day off. It’s only early but the CBF factor is high. Also grateful for nasal spray.
Grateful for Mr Seagoon, again. 😺 He is really cool with me doing all kinds of projects . Never butts in but when I have a problem and gripe/ask he always gives good advice.
It’s gotta be today
🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟
It will be 🤞🏾
🤞
Still radio silence from potential new company. Sent a follow up email this morning. Nothing
It always takes longer than you think. Don’t panic yet.
My 30 day notice period meets 29 days to the job starts date after tomorrow, and they know this
maybe person in charge is off sick?
I burnt the gozleme I made for dinner cos distracted.
Side note : bits of burnt gozleme in the sink look exactly like baby cockroaches.
Big wind make doors go bang bang. Sleep no.

…what a wonderful day to finally get around to reimaging that old Qualys to pfsense.
