Tired but had a pretty good day. A lot of induction and training which is to be expected.

Got to chat to the owner and he’s a really nice guy.

    No real complaints! ❤️

I remember that feeling of relief of having something to do after a few months of unemployment/underemployment. Not nearly as long as yours but I’m really chuffed that you get to apply yourself to something.

Hopefully it’s the kind of place where you can build some stability and not have to give too much of yourself.

About to go at some gutters. Neighbours’ big tree is overhanging the shed so they’re always full. I like the tree and I’m fine cleaning it up (usually compost it) but he refused to pay for half the recently rebuilt fence so fuck him he’s going get a lot of leaves on his side of the boundary. His leaves, my problem, soon to be his problem. He also has a pool so we’re aiming there.

We had a blockage in our kitchen sink once and my mum tried to use Drano. She managed to get it on her hands and copped a nasty skin burn and had to go to the hospital. She also dropped the entire tub on the ground after getting burnt. Then it managed to open a hole in one of our pipes (ancient plastic). Thankfully it was on the outside so was easily patched, and tbf it seems like it didn’t actually create a new hole in the pipe, just dissolved something that had been used to seal a small hole in the pipe before. But that was definitely a good learning lesson for me

Yes. Shortstop, Little Rogue (though might be one of the closed ones?), Krimper.

Cheap options: The $1 coffee at the Monopoly place is good for the price. The $3 coffee at Tigers Den (after 12PM) is OK for the price.

Shortstop is nice, but the temptation to get a 7 dollar doughnut is oftern too great. Tigers den are shut. Forgot about little rouge. Bakemono was the other one, I’m a sucker for those sesame seed honey things.

Two times this week I got the dreaded ‘you seem like a great guy’ from online dating apps.

The first had bad experiences in the past with guys who have the same first name as me.

The second we were going to meet up tomorrow for the first time but messaged today to say they’ve reconnected with a guy from their past so cya.

I understand the reasons but boy, with the lady who ‘isn’t one for pushing drugs on people, but I think you should take some of my medication’, and one who said she just left a cult, online dating apps have not been fun (though, interesting).

Words can’t express how much I appreciate missing the whole online dating thing. I met my wife at a very unromantic bar. In the days when “we met online” was still a bit weird.

Everything about the dating apps sounds awful. Not just for men, if anything I think women probably have it worse.

Yeah online dating sucks. There are plenty of, sorry to say it, fruit loops, on there. If I had just left a cult, I hope I’d go straight to a therapist!

I’m taking a long break from it and not sure if I ever want to try again. It seems like the only way in this day and age, although I did meet my ex at a bar.

Every time I try OLD, I try to get something out of it, even if it’s not a partner. Last person I spoke to from there shared some great music (and I gave him some recs). Before that, met some people that it didn’t work out with, but now they’re in happy relationships - it has been nice to see :)

I recently went to the birthday party of an acquaintance, and she had friends there that she met from OLD apps.

Go out on the weekends to bars pretty much. Or under very unique and rare circumstances, in your day to day life.

You need to be the kind of person who can smile and say “hey, no worries, have a great day/night” to being rejected. It hurts a bit in the beginning but then it’s ok.

          Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I used to get shit tons of Justice Department letters for a presumed ex tenant. After sending back NATA about ten I stopped until I had that many again, then sent them all taped together. It stopped after that. Google wouldn’t tell me and I didn’t dare open them.

When companies keep ignoring the NATAs over the span of many months, I enjoy fucking with the letters before sending them back. Nothing illegal, but never underestimate the power of writing not at address on a letter 100 different times. All in varying fonts and pen colours, some upside down for added effect. Maybe even some passive aggression about how incompetent they must be to not know how to update someone’s address. Sprayed with a quick spritz of non flammable air freshener (I don’t want to blow up a post truck, after all), and scrunched up a few times before being chucked back in the post box.

I did ask the postie about it (don’t want to make his job harder), and he said as long as he can read the return address, and their robot can see the stamp, everybody finds it funny and it does a few laps of the LPO before going to the depot.
