P.S when’s botbot fixed?
Anyone feel like they could disappear and nobody would notice?
I used to, all the time - less so these days, but the potential is always there. if I lapse, and return to a hermit hole, and don’t nudge my brain into more kind and helpful circuits that can recognise and remember comments of appreciation and need, I can very easily start feeling that way again.
Yes, but I’m also pretty sure that it’s the depression talking. Maype worth seeing a psych or doctor about?
Today’s challenge: Defrosing of the chest freezer. Followed by attempting to repack said freezer in a more organised and accessible manner.
So much food, so lethargic.
Lamb all gone.
Tummy so full.
Aaaaaand BIL tested positive for covid.
Goddamnit that family giving us c19 better not become a goddamn Christmas tradition
Four zuchinis harvested today, more on the way and plenty in the fridge still. I’m adding dehydrating zuchinis for zucchini flour to my to do list. Next step is giving away zucchinis to the food cupboard. The pumpkins and squash are starting to take off now too, and if the number of flowers on the tomato plants is any indicator I will have plenty of those next year too. I really need to get on to planting more leaves and root crops though. I do have self-sown mustard greens everywhere as well as kale and beetroot greens, so I guess it is mostly lettuce I need to try and get more of.
I just want to say if you make a bunch of gyoza for any occasion people will eat all of them.
And that’s a fact!
Biscuits have been made and iced. A bit rough, but I’m sure that won’t stop anyone eating them. I just need to wait for them to dry so I can pack them up for work tomorrow. The gingerbread dough was much nicer to work with after a couple of days in the fridge.
If anyone is missing the fun that is https://old.reddit.com/r/whatismycookiecutter get on it for wholesome lols.
I love the vibrant colours of the icing you used! I love proper gingerbread, I make some with the Minipeelers sometimes. I was driven to do it because I got sick of all the shortbread with ginger added masquerading as gingerbread, and also the fact that real gingerbread costs a bomb. A certain local bakery near me charges $5 per gingerbread person. $5! They aren’t even big, they’re getting smaller as well. They aren’t as good as mine anyway, and I bet they’re nowhere near as good as yours.
lovely 🤗😊
I’m regretting my decision to be shy and not steal leftovers last night, because now I’m hungry and rather than chucking something in the microwave and being done with it, I have to make something ☹️
I have O Fortuna stuck in my head and now I’m subconsciously doing things to its rhythm
I choked on my peppermint tea from giggling at The Vicar of Dibley.
the vicar of dribbley…
I accidentally ate the whole box of cheezels.
It’s the cheezels fault for being delicious not yours.
Truly they were mocking me.
Life Lesson #74. Don’t mock if you’re covered in cheese.
That thunder was so loud it woke me up.
I’m having trouble sleeping (for unrelated reasons), but it seems like every time I’ve started to relax I’m shaken back into anxiety land by thunder
I’m still up for some unknown reason.
Hi D, I guess we have a bit of a club happening now
See how long it lasts. How come you’re still up?
I’m here sipping some wine
Doing that overthinking thing I’m pretty much famous for at this point 🫠
In another edition of “What I made today”, cucumber pickles. Made from a couple of rescue cucumbers from the food cupboard.
Don’t pickles default to cucumbers? Like, you can have pickled onions/capsicum etc. But if you just say “pickles”, you mean cucumber.
Pickling is a method of preserving and can be anything, but my understanding is that people assume it is cucumber because that is what is generally used in fast food / restaurants. Given I pickle many things (and not very often cucumber) I feel I should specify the vegetable.
I did wonder from your comment if cucumbers are always the default for pickles and if I’m just being picky because I do a lot of preserving, so I asked ChatGPT as the resident language expert, and its opinion is that:
“Typically, when someone mentions “pickles” without specifying a vegetable, it often refers to pickled cucumbers, as they are the most common type of pickles. However, context and regional variations can lead to different interpretations or types of pickled vegetables being implied, such as pickled peppers, carrots, onions, etc.”

It’s become a tradition amongst our small group of friends that whoever hosts xmas day also ends up hosting the hangover boxing day gathering where all the leftover food is divvied up into food parcels for everyone to take away. So much food left. Ham and turkey sammidges for the next few days.
Thank you Baku bot.
