    Not my f’ing day.

Just spilt my entire dinner on the god damn carpet and had to do a massive cleanup and remaking dinner again as all of it had to be tossed out.

It’s the last thing I need right now!

It was souped based as well which made it so much worse to clean up.

Almost thought about going without as well.

Stand-up meetings, where everyone is in fact sitting down and it goes for almost an hour, a very crappy way to start the week.

Also this annoying brown-noser type person at my work took it upon themselves to run the meeting and they called me out on screen and asked me how my weekend was. I said it was fine and asked how theirs was, their response to my lack of information was “wow it’s like talking to a teenager”. Fuck off. If I don’t want to regail all of the staff about what I did on the weekend like you do, then that’s my decision to make.

“wow it’s like talking to a teenager”

completely unacceptable. Go to HR and your manager on it. Claim to be offended (Because they wont give a shit otherwise). You’re owed an apology and they need to learn they cant do it any more.

      Wow. Just wow.

I answer much like you to questions about how I am and stuff like that at work and I do get ribbed a bit that I’m never anything but fine but it’s all lighthearted and that they’d love to hear that I’m feeling wonderful one day but seriously that response is so unnecessary and ugly.

Me thinks you need to raise this with someone perhaps.

    Bummer

I’ve been struggling for hours to get my abdominal pain down to manageable levels and am currently back on a liquid diet. The severe pain is happening so frequently now and all the specialists so far have just shrugged or been jerks. Trying to get in with a pain management clinic via a private route now because this is debilitating.

I made a post on Facebook mentioning I had some time off and now Facebook is suggesting I start a chat group to plan a meetup. All of these “smart” AI/algorithms are really starting to be annoying - it’s like having an idiot friend around who constantly misses the point of things. Instead of adding value like it’s supposed to, most of the time it just takes up time and distracts you pointlessly.

If the technology was smart enough to understand context it might actually manage to be helpful. But when your post is actually about looking forward to spending time at home and not going out, plus it is in a group with 82K members from all over the world and not a great venue to plan an impromptu meetup, then that sort of suggeston coming up is just an annoyance.

It would not be so annoying if they didn’t go so overboard on everything. But it’s never just one or two ads, it takes over so that’s pretty much all you see.

If reminds my of a situation my mother had with someone she worked with once. Mum said once that she liked the ginger biscuits they had for morning tea, and this person focused on that to the point of obsession - she would buy and present ginger biscuits regularly, christmas presents would be chocolate coated ginger etc. All presented with the best of intentions because “I know how you like ginger”. Which might have been great if Mum did actually love ginger, but it was a faulty extrapolation from a single passing statement, and instead it was extremely annoying (to the extent she would regularly come home and vent about it, which is why I know about it!).

The way they are using their algorithms now is like that, going way overboard from snippets of information and most of the time being annoying rather than helpful.

Haha. I know that feeling. I got 4 boxes of Maltesers for Christmas this year because I said I liked Malteser bunnies 5 years ago.

Also chocolate Roses. I like them occasionally. I don’t need a years supply. I had to start making cakes and biscuits so I could give away tins. Friends mean well. They know I like tins and Roses.

It’s been a long-ass day, so many calls,
So many people staring at their walls,
Calling us to do some dirty, hard work.

I’m trying so hard to talk to them all,
Tell them we’ll pick them up when they fall,
I start at 10am, it’s the only real perk.

I tell myself I’m not burning out,
    It’s just a busy period,
It’s what this job is all about,
I tell myself I’m not burning out,
    It’s just a busy period,
I’m just a bit worn out.

PSA: I’ve lost some photos. Partly my fault, partly computers dying. Anyway right now I had 3 or 4 repositories or backups, most duplicated, but I only discovered recently that at some point something corrupted and I lost some priceless photos. Spent 3 weeks digging through old storage to find a backup and luckily, I found a VERY old SD card that contains them. Its a miracle that it survived this long. I nearly cried tears of joy. Anyway, if you don’t have a good backup solution? Go make one. Right bloody now!

I’m also open to suggestions for management/organization of photos. Right now im across iCloud for recent stuff, Dropbox for last gen stuff, and then google drive for older than that stuff. And its just chaos!

Print them out and put them in an album. Use the best paper, ink, glue and album you can find. The pictures should last quite a few decades, if not more.

        This is a great idea.

Every year my wife and I pick out our fave photos of the year across both of our phones (because that’s where they all get taken these days!), and when Snapfish do their big yearly sale at the start of Jan we get a hardcover photo book made up.

It helps to have a folder that we just dump photos we particularly like into as the year goes on, makes things quick come book compiling time.

Just this weekend gone our niece was staying with us, and she loved going through our little collection of photo books on the shelf, and I admit I enjoyed it too! I love the experience of browsing a book or album of printed photos.

There’s a whole lot of earth moving going on out the back of mine and the reverse noise on one of the bits of equipment sounds like a huge wattle bird and the resident magpies are freaking the fuck out. Just standing there on the lawn staring at this excavator probably regretting the little feud they have going on (with the real wattle birds).
