Got an interview tomorrow. Let’s see what happens. 🤞

Today was a particularly shit day. And I have to go to the stupid xmas party and pretend I’m excited to be around a bunch of people who make 350k+ a year.

Been at my new place of work for just over three months now and they have the new batch of people sitting with me, watching me work, and asking questions etc. also a manager (not my direct one, but same role) spoke to me yesterday about having my mind on my future with this company, as they need good people and are expanding in Melbourne. Feels quite good 😊

You certainly want a future at this company but like all good workers you would be extra motivated if they show their appreciation monetarily.

Time for a few days of solitude down the beach. Only irl interaction will be 'ellos to randos on the beach and their dogs (and the local IGA for goon, love those peeps). Cannot wait.

Absolute zero risk of anyone popping 'round.

Just redid the ol’ girls drug / drop schedule - calendar after today’s appt… Still full on but seems to be working well so far and logical. Keeps changing after every appointment as there are a few docs involved. They can’t communicate for shit. Crossing off shit that another has prescribed. I’m in a very privileged position to know very deeply, that kindergarten kiddos with a few cans and some string could do better here with respect to communication it’s like herding fukn cats.

Edit. Just taught mum how to break tablets with a bic lighter, she has to do half tabs couldn’t use the splitter (these are prescription)… My youth mispent turns out was well spent. lol.

Her: “how did you know that”?

Me; “err trust me it works”.

I’m happy to cover the basic. It’s possible to bump it significantly, but one of us would get the physical stuff and I don’t think anyone except @[email protected] is located in a useful spot for the tickets.

You know that feeling when you’re too hot and tired to feel hungry but you know you’ll regret it in bed if you don’t eat anything… yeah that’s me right now.

I’ve worked 23 hours over yesterday and today. That’s ridiculous. I really hope I sleep in on Wed morning. Maybe make myself an omelette for breakfast. It’s a bit silly now how much I’m avoiding cooking in this kitchen. Right now all I need to do is soak some rice noodles in hot water, drain and rinse, and stir through premade vegan larb. C’mon, I can do this. It’s not even cooking.

Edit: yay I did it. In a pan, on the stove, with frozen veg to bulk it up. Now I have 3 meals worth of food. Easy.

Bit of a rant coming up.

Went to my GP to get a referral for a minor procedure. Referral was sent to the surgery clinic (Western Health), I was told it takes about 5-7 days for the surgery to send a confirmation text and set up an appointment. It’s not urgent but needs to be done.

After about 2 weeks, hear nothing, call the surgery clinic, turns out they didn’t receive the referral. As GP to send another one, and now have to wait another 5-7 days to actually find out it was received.

So either the referral wasn’t faxed the first time OR it was misplaced at the receiving end.

I’m not really interested in investigating any further (like asking for sent receipts from my GP), but it’s pretty frustrating.

Private is not an option due to lack of insurance and costs unfortunately.

Monash Health never responded to my referal for surgery. It wasn’t until bitcoin went up and I decided to pay for it privately and they realised I’d been ignored for 2.5 years did they jump to action. My advice now is don’t trust referrals, pester them all the way through, they cannot be trusted. Anyone waiting on surgery/referral for over three months, go back to the gp and complain about symptoms, shit even try a new gp.

Solid advice. I know I’m in the ‘queue’ now but will keep following up with the surgical team.

If I get nothing in a week, I’m going back to my GP with ‘worse symptoms’.

I’m kind of disappointed that my GP doesn’t have a follow up system themselves to ensure things are received.

Seems to be sorted now, but very frustrating.

I have a friend who is a GP and partner in a medical centre. I dropped in to visit him once, and it was a real eye-opener as an IT person. Their IT was a shambles. The four senior Doctors have a share in the business and hire every other employee. They all had their own computers / not purchased through a central procurement point. The center itself had computers and a records system, but it was super basic in terms of what a real IT department would set up. Just PCs plugged into a central switch and a single server running whatever software the business runs on. It was a small business, basically. Security was not up to scratch (no firewall at all for internal traffic/ just the consumer grade router NATing external traffic). Email was just hosted with Microsoft 365 with an off-the-shelf config. Fax was literally the phone line plugged into the receptionists printer.

I assume they were great at the doctory bits. But their IT was amateur hour.

I should state that the patient records stuff was via some sort of cloud-based SaaS company accessed through a browser. No medical records were kept onsite.

have provided support for medical industry in the past. This is so accurate. Even when they did purchase a solution they’d hang onto it YEAR beyond what it was originally scoped for and still expect it to run like new. Dumbest profession i ever supported TBH.

There are dumber. I supported an alliance of car yards. Those were the dumbest profession I ever supported. Managers who somehow failed upward into their roles and were dumber than a box a of hammers. Mechanics who had (and needed) Windows XP in the workshop. Car salespeople who would ignore everything in their email that wasn’t “I want to buy a car”, even if the message was as bold as possible “If you don’t click this button by x time your email will not work on Monday”. Guess how mad they were at me on Monday? 🙄

Yeah. I get human error. Happens and I get faxes are more secure than emails and such. But I’d be happy to wave my privacy rights for this occasion to ensure that the damn thing was actually sent and received.

Just got a message from the surgery clinic that this referral came through and I’ll hear from them shortly to book a consult and such.

Then the girl I spoke to earlier (and yesterday) rang me to ensure I got the message. I got her name and will email the clinic with glowing praise for her.

My car insurance renewal came in with an increase of over 25% so I’m getting to spend the morning getting quotes for alternatives.

Youi just crossed themselves off my list with a bait and switch process - the online form says they will email you a quote, then asks for a phone number just to send you a PIN. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, gave the number and it goes straight to them phoning me instead. Lying to me to get personal details is not something that makes me want to deal with a company.

RACV got their asses kicked by AAMI for us this year. to be fair, AAMI also crushed Budget Direct. The real irony being a MY23 ~$45k SUV was substantially cheaper than the MY~10 $8k Hatchback.

I mean, I know the safety tech and all that, and the hatch is a known p plater car. But seriously. You guys are gonna screw me on a market value of it anyway, meanwhile you’d be stuck buying me a brand new SUV if i managed to write it off.

None of these quotes make sense! RACV are quoting cheaper for 3rd party if I add fire and theft to it. Suncorp is quoting me cheaper for a basic comprehensive policy than for third party.

They are currently the winner - I can get comprehensive insurance through them cheaper than the RACV third party. Weirdly RACV are quoting me a lower price for third party fire and theft than just straight third party property which covers less!

AAMI was the cheapest for me. I just want enough insurance to not ruin my life if I tap a $150k car. I’ve got front/rear dash cams too.
