It can be so hard, but maybe it can be seen as an opportunity to reconnect? Heat of the moment things can be painful and but sometimes we need to look past them. Small things over time become bigger things. We all want feel seen, heard and validated and beyond that see actual lasting change or improvement. Hope you can come to each other with kindness.

so its been a week. Had to take kid to emergency yesterday. Hes been released and fine now, just a bunch of viruses running rampant on him but the MCH and GP both said “yeah, lets get the hospital to check him out”. I thought I kept my cool under pressure pretty well, but came home last night got him to bed and just kind collapsed on the couch like “holly fucking shit that was one of the hardest days of my life”.

It comes very close to the 12 month anniversary of the LAST hardest days of my life that also involve a him and a hospital. So if we made a year before taking him to the hospital we’ve done pretty well. Shout out to the MCH Hotline, the GP and the Monash health staff. All were simply amazing.

It’s important to recognise how exhausting kids are, especially when they’re sick and needing that extra hospital help. We get so caught up with keeping up that we forget it’s okay to stop and rest, so enjoy that couch time.

I actually already have a pet bot. I use it for admin tasks and testing, mostly. I don’t know at this point whether I’ll use that one, or make something new.

A quick google search showed me something promising: https://github.com/RikudouSage/LemmySchedule

      Do you even lift, bro?

Seriously though, they are surprisingly tall. I remember going out the back after dark when I lived in regional Vic and almost walked straight into a big fella like this (I’m only about 168cm tall and it was clearly and obviously much taller than me!) We stared at each other in silence for a moment, and it just had that strangely expressionless look that they have, before I very slowly and with no sudden movement backed back into the house and closed the door, resolving to never go out the back after dark ever again.

I have been trying to go to bed at roughly the same time each night, regardless of how tired/sleepy I feel.

I have found that it actually does help with getting to sleep: even if I think I’m not tired when I go to bed, I actually fall asleep quite quickly.

My struggle is with falling asleep when only mildly sleepy. One little mental jolt and I’m awake again.

Generally I’m in bed between 11-11:30 but some days that gets pushed out past midnight.

I chalked it up to living an alarmingly sedentary life but it seems like that’s not all.

Only if you enclose the whole bowl in a paper or plastic bag. The apples/banana gives of ethylene gas which ripens the other stuff. Same as colesworth does in its warehouse when it wants to sell us ‘ripe’ fruit.

I’m getting yt recommendations on how to be an elegant and chic older woman.

Seems I should only wear red nails and lips, never wear anything but simple hoops and studs, no long hair , no dyed hair, no fun clothes, only classics, lots of gold, beige, sailor stripes and be very very thin

If there is no room for my mushroom pants and matching earrings or totoros on my finger nails or bag I’d rather not be chic

well, chic for when it calls for it, otherwise, I’m a carlton/brunnie girl

    wine /alcohol talk

Also shout out to tread softly wine ~10-15 bucks a bottle, low preservative (one of the few that doesn’t leave me with a head ache) and slightly lower alcohol. They do a couple that are about half strength too which is good if you want a wine but without the wine headache. I’ve tried a few zero alcohol ones but few taste just right to me
