Have a good day and a great weekend! 👍
Do you ever look at an empty box and go “that’s a nice looking box. Better not throw that out. That’ll come in handy some day”. You don’t know what you’re gonna use it for yet but it’s there just in case.
My kids do that with every single box. We have too many boxes.
I see you have seen my box collection in the garage
welcome to adulthood
What I tend to do at work is think to myself “I’ll be good and get rid of all these empty boxes and ditch the clutter”, and then 48 hours later be turning the place upside down trying to find a box to ship something to one of our other sites in.
Glad I saved the GPU boxes from 2007. Back when they had the tacky art on the box.
Welcome to middle age.
For the empties mate.
They go back into the boxes they came from. 👍
I threw out a really nice hounds tooth paper bag that a DJs gift card came in. Nice thick paper. Gonna sit in a drawer for ever.
I’m like that with cardboard tubes like the ones we get when the giant rolls of baking paper and foil run out at work.
I have been known to keep the really hard ones that come with wrapping paper. If you get a coat hanger and mold it you can can slip a dusting glove onto the wire and bend it, attach it to the tube, you can dust things higher up without getting on a chair.

Well, you can spend the time and attention on entering the parking space, or spend the time and attention on leaving it. My own decision tree includes whether or not I need to open the back hatch door to put stuff in. If yes, then forward park into the space - if no, then reverse in.
Your first sentence is basically my thought process too. If getting out is going to be more of a pain, because of traffic or a tight spot, I’ll reverse. But if there’s lots of cars waiting or I’m running late when parking I’ll always go for a forward park if I can.
I’m usually more tired and anxious at the end of a drive than the start so I prefer to make life easy for myself.

Well done. From now, only reverse park. Once you do it a few times it becomes second nature and you’ll scoff at the forward parkers (as you well should) due to your immediate superiority.
While I too drive stick and laugh at Yanks who claim it’s too difficult, I’ll always take a pull through parking spot if available.
Pull through is the first option. If not available, reverse. I get very shitty when people (idiots) tailgate in a carpark and get upset when my reverse lights go on.

I don’t really understand why people want to reverse park all the time. I usually want to put things in the back of my car, so it is much more convenient if that is pointing out.
I personally like backing in when I can do it.
Parking between 2 large cars with a small hatch back is a nightmare to navigate when you’re leaving and having to reverse.
So much easier leaving when reverse parked. I only front park when there’s too much traffic around or I need to get in quickly to do something.
When you reverse park, you pull forward into traffic when leaving. I can still put stuff in the car when I’m reversed, unless it’s a big chunky item then I’ll plan ahead.

It improves parallel parking skills as well.
Teaches you about the size of your car and how to use available space. The amount of nuffies that think they’re hatchback needs 2 lanes of clearance to move around still amazes me.
Just took this photo. This phone camera is awesome!
What phone
First bountiful harvest from the chillo patch:
Heaps more coming but an impressive haul nonetheless.
Sometimes the smaller the hotter
Just enough for tonight’s borger by the sea.

Haha love a Datto
I declare 2 pm to be beer o’clock today.
Fuck work and fuck whatever may be bothering you today.
Righto. 👍
I think we’ve arrived at a consensus.
Oh I wish. I have cried too much today, especially for a work day.
You deserve several drinks then
Put a couple on ice for ney. One more zoom call (solid wall of them starting at 9am) then I will join !
I’m going to the bottle shop in about an hour to re-stock (wife is driving!!!). Any requests?
One of everything - on ice. The nigerian prince who keeps emailing me will pay when he gets his inheritance/lottery winnings/insurance payout.
Done. I’m holding you to the payment terms
I call this my Lonely People Email Filter and it is vital to my mental health
The truck missed picking up my bin today ☹️
Normally it would not be an issue for me as I don’t have much rubbish, but I’ve been doing a big cleanup and this week it is packed to the top and I have a pile of stuff already waiting for next week too. I’ve reported it to the Council so it should get emptied, but I presume now it won’t be until Monday at the earliest.
Back in the day people used to take whole watermelons injected with booze into the cricket. So what you do is bite a little hole in the top and suck the juice from it. Then you start chewing through it. By the end of the day you’re wearing the rind as a helmet, giving a little wave 🤘 to the camera and off ya chops.
There’s a little culture for ya.
My sister did a version of this whilst camping in a caravan with friends at Wilson’s Prom like 25 years ago. Multiple watermelons, bottles of vodka. She told me they woke up the next morning and the inside of the caravan was covered in watermelon.
Pre used watermelon presumably…
😂
And you wind up smelling like watermelon which is preferable to beer, sweat and sunscreen.
I’ve seen it done with a bag of oranges still in the netting. Take the stickers off, inject the oranges, put them back on the ones you’ve injected.
This Terry’s shot do you reckon it would work if I chocolated the rim of a shot glass then filled it with Cointreau?.
The meds have settled down now.
At this current moment in time, I’m really isolated. A have a couple of good friends but I’ve always had different groups of friends that I’ve flitted between.
Most of my dreams are about hanging out with people.
It’s an ache of sorts. One that frustrates you because sometimes no matter what you do, you can’t alleviate it.
I chose a non traditional pathway. I spent a lot of time being a drug addict, which has long term consequences I never considered.
That aside, the dull ache of depression has lifted, which is nice. Now I have the energy to make big changes in my behaviour.
I think that’s the point of these meds.
/Rant
My experience of this - Yep that is the point and also the hard bit. It’s like it strips away the depression/anxiety/whatever that’s actually there because your brain is standing between you and THE STUFF you can’t quite look at head on. The drugs replace that maladaptive stuff with…blank…but THE STUFF is still there. It’s just now you can see it and work with it. It’s still hard. But you’ve bought yourself some capacity. And the ability to put some distance between yourself and THE STUFF so you can start to see THE STUFF is not actually you.
(The you in that is the general you / how I experienced it for me. I am not trying to tell you what your experience is. Hope that makes sense)
Big hugs and random internet support from someone who also walks a weird path
Makes perfect sense. It feels like I can do what I need to so I can fix things. Without the problem stopping me.
Kind of a vicious cycle in a way.
I understand. I don’t know how to fix it but I can empathise, am sending warm vibes of companionship. It’s not you, it just happens to some people. I’m in a boring traditional pathway - uni, partner, house, job, but am isolated too. For me I think when my contemporaries started having kids and I didn’t, they all just slowly disappeared and never got replaced. Family Is dysfunctional so no luck there either. Well done on getting the meds and looking after yourself. Hopefully Gibson will give you some snuggles! I think accepting the situation can help, at least it relieves the feeling of fomo, and then you can focus on what you want to do next.
Thanks so much for your message. I really appreciate it.
I’m not someone who gives up on what they want but I need to grow some more patience.
I will now be able to go out and meet people and not come across poorly because I’m depressed, or instantly assume they wouldn’t want to talk to me because of my feelings about myself.
That’s the killer part. You’re depressed, so you don’t have the energy or motivation to meet people and even if you did, you doubt yourself the entire time. I think people pick up on that.
So many hugs.
My doorbell camera AI is very fail - it thinks a magpie is a person at the door. It’s pranking me - I keep getting anxiety omg who is at the door
My daughter’s doing chemistry this year and loving it so much she decided to tell me about her lesson today. There was talk of electrons and…that’s as far as I remember because I tuned out but I nodded at the right times then I made an escape but not before I turned to the dog and said “I live in a house with nerds”. He agreed.
get her one of stephen hawking’s books (i forgot which) for the quarks and strings too
Oh no no no dear bacon. One does not purchase books unless requested to. I will ask though. Thanks.
I’m writing a cover letter for the first time in 7 years (got my last job through contacts and personally introducing myself).
This is so tedious and frustrating. I keep writing “I bring…” and it ends up sounding like “I bring tales of adventure, stories of wisdom, and the skillset of a wizard” or something stupid like that.
I’m also trying real hard not to start a paragraph dissing myself with “While I have an unconventional background in…” - like, don’t lead with negatives. hard habit to break
‘My mettle is unsurpassed and my commitment to making you more money means that you will get more money’.
I used that once. Didn’t work though :(
Who doesn’t want more money?! Their loss :(
The best and most effective cover letter I ever wrote went like this : “This job sounds interesting. I think I can do it well.” That was all I wrote. Got a call back within 15 minutes.
My first ‘real’ job letter took 24hr and a bottle of vodka. Worked though 😺
The skill set of a wizard is awesome. Unless of course you are applying to be a murder hobo.
If someone said something original and genuinely entertaining like “I bring tales of adventure, stories of wisdom, and the skillset of a wizard” I’d give them a job!
😭 I wish I had a radar for detecting which people reviewing job apps would have enough of a sense of humour because I’d have os much more fun writing that.
i’m getting started on that in a few weeks for the first time in over ten years. will enlist chatGPT for help.
Yeah idk why I didn’t just do that from the start. So much of it is guff anyway
‘Floating sauna rescues occupants of Tesla that plunged into Oslo fjord’ is not a headline you see every day!
…and as the dashboard of your $50,000 MAGA hat slips slowly below the icy waves you wonder how your humiliation could be more complete. And then into view hoves a floating sauna of buff, beautiful blonde men, completely naked shouting HALLOOOOO
I’m not keen on blondes, but SUBSCRIBE
Ok guys. I have a new recipe for youse.
Coat the rim in choc ice magic. Then choc powder (not cocoa) fill with Cointreau.
Application: lick the rim and scull the liquid. Lick the rim again. Thanks @[email protected]
That’s your own creation, I may have been a muse. My mixed drinks are generally more brutal looking. Mix it all together in the shot glass. Or even alternating double fisted swigs of cointreau and icemagic.
It needs a name!
Rim me Terry
😂 This reminds me of my very shy aunty. She goes to a bar and asks “can IIIIII have a comefuckmecowboy”. We all laughed and I said to her “you know you could’ve just asked for a cowboy and they would’ve know what you wanted” she goes “I did not know that”.
