I wanted to put one in for my next door neighbour as they’re going through a rough period at the moment but I wasn’t sure what size or creation to go with.

      Still thinking about it.

And thank you for doing this!

Thank you, I’ll look into joining on payday. Have you done this before? I feel like I’ve seen the idea around before, but can’t quite remember if it was you or somebody else doing something similar. If you have, how often do you do it?

No pressure! Yeah, that was me :) I think I’ve done it five or six times now. I try to do it a few times a year but last year was a bad one for me so I only did it once. Hoping to do some more this year.

It’s for a good (and small) cause and not profit, and also not from a random who joined the group for the sole purpose of self-promotion, so I say I it’s fine. 🙂

Just don’t try to sign us up to do a research project, those people on Reddit were annoying.

Thank you to all the people who gave me words of wisdom yesterday. I love this little community. And it’s nice to have people on my side. 🫶

I’ve got some self-care to do. Unread books, movies to watch, doggo to pat, new gym to try. Yesterday my dad made me stand in the green waste bin to squash down the leaves and branches. It’s the little things.

These bad feelings will pass. I will feel moments of joy again. I will focus on me and ultimately live the life I want to live. I will be okay.

P.S. I’m plugging this now, if you’re into seeing your music listening stats - last.fm! Also good to keep up with what friends are listening to (and see who listens the most)!

What a beautiful looking day! In another instalment of “You Know You’re Getting Older When…” You look at a morning like this and think “great, better get some washing out” instead of “great, where can we go/who can we get pissed with” 😆

Kids and I are going through videos on YouTube and we stumbled on The Tea Party (Canadian rock band from the 90s and 00s)

Is it appropriate to tell my kids that I’ve hung out with the band at a bar and the recording studio.

And yes…many, many lines of Columbiab marching powder are featured in the stories.

Tell me dude, Tea Party was huge here late 90s. They played a bunch of uni’s instead of concert halls when they toured. I saw them at Monash Clayton and Monash Caulfield for about $20 a ticket.

That’s what I’m thinking…at the same time my son asked me the other day how do I get my rice paper rolls , rolled so tightly.

I told him it was luck and about 20 years of unrelated practice

Depends on how old your kids are IMO.

If they’re infant, set them up for success and omit the details, but if they’re teenagers then you could form a better bond and let them know they can talk to you openly when they experiment with making rice paper rolls.

The bar we used to hang out at was near a local recording studio.

Tea party were recording and would go to the bar for drinks.

I recognised the singer and introduced myself and my mates. He was super nice and thrilled that we knew who he was. My mates were musicians and he would talk shop with them.

The other guitarist/bassist was chill and would talk hockey and movies. The drummer wanted nothing to do with us and just sat on the side drinkinig.

At one point I went to the toilets and heard a loud snort. Two band members exited a stall, saw me, laughed and offered me a line.

        I accepted, as one should.

        Went back and kept chatting.

We probably ran into them 3-4 times in a span of a month and they remembered us each time.

Few months later they were shooting a video at my uni and had no idea who we were, but we’re still nice.

Colombian marching powder :) I don’t want to hijack your story, but let’s just say that a long time ago, back in the UK, someone said that exact phrase to me and it started a chain of events that ultimately lead to me sitting here now, in Melbourne, typing this reply.

A terrible tragedy in the Raven household, the water fountain has died. The pets will be forced to drink still water until a replacement pump arrives. The indignity of it.

Lol you just reminded me of the time a housemate of mine (many moons ago) got one of those bamboo zen Feng Shui tabletop water fountain things for Xmas. The water was constantly needing to be topped up for some reason, and eventually the motor burnt out. The cat looked decidedly miffed at this turn of events.

Do you have a bath that the cats jump into? Maybe you could set up a bowl with the water just trickling a tiny bit into it?

I think she’ll be ok drinking from the bowl still, but the flowing water is definitely better.

Pumps often do tend to have a limited lifespan. This does vindicate my decision to pay for their 10 year extended warranty when I bought the fountain (something I normally don’t do as they are generally a bad deal). The standard warranty is 2 years, I’ve had it just under 3.

Sounds like you’ve already got it sorted, but if it’s anything like the pump in mine an aquarium one is identical and probably cheaper.

Cheese, pickles, chutney and crackers for lunch. The crackers are sweet potato, and I’m not overly thrilled with them. A bit strong flavoured, although that works quite well with the chutney which is also strong.

New bakery at the market, tucked in a laneway. They do excellent Portuguese tarts.

We used our powerpal reader as a meter when the sun was blazing and cranked the aircon as far as possible while reading zero grid use. Now maintaining comfy as shit with very little oomphing.

According to my daughter you don’t really need cutlery. Steak just pick it up and use your hands. Salad the same. Soup just slurp out of the bowl. I think this is the Arab in her that utilises hands and bread. I will still provide cutlery at my table thank you very much.

Look, hear her out… washing your hands after a meal is a lot easier than washing cutlery. Plus if you eat off and grab food with bread/pita/lavash there is no cleanup there.
