Hello Friends! I just realised I haven’t posted or logged in a much longer period of time than I thought. I hope you’re all well! For once I’m not here to vent or complain. Lol.

That surface was far too white and clearly was going to attract the black cat. This is a known force of nature. Yin and yang. The world is balanced again

Haha. That’s like my dog. I roll my yoga mat out and he jumps on it and rolls around. I push him off so he sits on me. I push him off, he gets excited “oh you wanna play do you”.

Happy hottest 100 day! Would anybody be down for a thread in c/rage where we can discuss the H100? It was one of my favourite things from over on Reddit. All of us who cleared our days just to listen to the hottest 100 would sit around and pretty much all day “yeah this song’s fuckin shit ay” with the occasional old person hopping in to rant about how much better music was last century. Then once every 10 songs we’d all day “yeah I’m not a fan of [artist] but this song is actually alright”

Ok I probably didn’t sell that very well - there’s a reason I don’t work in sales! But jokes aside, would anybody be keen for something like that? Wouldn’t be as much fun because there’s less people here, but I reckon with a few of us it’d be decent enough?

The last time I sat and listened to the Hottest 100 was 2008 (the year I moved to Melbourne). I am super out of touch with whatever is on the airwaves these days. Smartphones killed the radio star.

My exposure to Triple J these days is pretty much limited to the car ride to the weekly shopping trip, so not much, but I don’t think i’ve heard a single thing that didn’t have that stupid hollow auto tune voice effect. Can anyone actually sing anymore?

    I made these today

    Following this recipe

    https://www.recipetineats.com/fried-chicken/

They were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside but fuck they were bland and too salty. Nothing like kfc. I’ll stick with korean fried chicken because they do flavour and spicy. I do not recommend unless you play around with spices.

My advice for fired chicken. Marinade it in rice wine, soy sauce and whatever flavours you want.

The meat retains all the flavours.

Ok so I did it. I booked the flights to Vietnam. But it’s going to be a very flat out three months at work up until holiday time I’ll say that much.

Meanwhile can I just say hospitality in this country is pretty shit. You are basically treated with a thinly veiled contempt at any hotel.

Mostly central Vietnam ie Hue, Da Nang and Hoi An. I’ll spend a couple of days in Saigon, but won’t stay there long because I can only handle crowded city vibes for so long.

We had a 7-hour power outage yesterday afternoon, along with 1500 other homes, all because someone a bit further down the street released a helium-filled metallic balloon which floated up to the power lines and blew them up. All credit to the fire service who arrived quickly to secure the scene, and also to the United Energy crews who turned up with three massive cherry-picker trucks to thread it all back together again.

In better news, Groundhog Day: The Musical was fantastic, highly recommended. It’s surpassed Wicked as my favourite theatre musical of all time. The sets, the humour, the cast…just brilliant.

What area was that in? We had a similar-looking situation this morning near our place; fire, police, and energy company.

I forgot to put a picture of the mug. (First ever attempt at sketching with charcoal and very quick, be kind.)

    spoiler

The lines are a lot heavier and more defined than they should be, it wasn’t shaded in very lightly, gradually and increasingly accurately as it should have been. (You can see I put the bottom of the rim way too low at first then couldn’t lighten it with smudging.)

This is due in part to me sharpening the nib into weird uneven craggy angles by taking too large slices/inconsistent angles during sharpening and having to kind of press down to mark. I’ll watch a sharpening tutorial and try again when I feel like it.

Constantly hitting my hand and the end of the pencil on the easel rest and having to work around it at a weird sideways angle when doing the bottom was also really awkward.

Melbcat has also decided that she doesn’t like a flavour I bought many tins of and is refusing to finish her medicated supper, even with treats or bonito flakes on top. She just picks the good stuff off and demands something nicer. 😢

And yesterday I randomly came up in a few large hives which are now swollen welts. Must be from handling laundry chemicals

Final assignment done - I now have the next month free from study 😁

I had to draw an annotated diagram of my house & land as part of the assignment, and I can definitely confirm that is really not something I have any natural talent towards. I was able to use the glass table from my bathroom with a light underneath as a lightbox to trace a printout from Google Earth, so it at least has the right proportions. And I got to use my coloured pencils to do some colouring in of the different areas. I’m not expecting a great mark on this assignment, but it should pass and that’s all that really matters with this one.

I just remembered I have like $1500 play-cash in my backpack from my cruise which I didn’t spend because I was sick.

I could just go to the bank and deposit it back into my savings orrrrrr… the weather up on the border is looking pretty good for today/tomorrow.
