    Daily dose of bboi:

He gave me a bear hug this morning. I was sitting down at his level and he just climbed up and wrapped his paws around my neck and just casually walked away.

I have never seen a cat do that.

    I feel special.

Was it a bear hug, or a practice run for when he decides to strangle you and take over the house…?

But it is always a privilege to be around such a fine feline. Although that photo looks like he’s had a bite taken out of the top of his head!

Very happy he just wanted a hug heh.

We have a cat in our house for the next few weeks. (Cat sitting while owner is OS).

My last cat died a few years ago when my son was just 5. He’s 8 & a half now and so so keen to care for a new cat.

Cat arrived and has been chilling in our laundry & small hallway to settle in. My son has been quietly visiting the cat. At one point he just sat in the hallway, watching Kids YT to keep our visitor company. Otherwise he quietly talks about what things he likes, his family and how he can’t wait to show the cat the rest of our house.

The cat has been slowly venturing out to have a sniff and is now bumping for pats. Still a bit skittish but definitely settling in. Son is stoked.

It is insanely cute to watch this boy be so gentle and loving.

Melbcat was doing that last night while sleeping. Probably warmth, darkness and to snoof up the comforting hooman scent while snoring.

My Christmas overindulgence has caught up with me. I’m home from work with an upset stomach after a night of almost no sleep.

When I did get to sleep I had unpleasant dreams. First the cleaner from work was vacuuming around my bed so I couldn’t sleep. Then there were lots of people everywhere talking really loudly. When I decided to call in sick (in my dream) I had trouble finding anywhere quiet enough to make a phone call. Then I realised the sun was rising and I was already late. Then I couldn’t find the app on my phone to make a phone call, and when I eventually did it wouldn’t dial.

I think this means I am boring - nightmares used to involve things like time bombs and crocodiles. Vacuum cleaners and phoning work really don’t have the same dramatic impact.

That sounds exhausting. Hopefully if this is the case the vacuum cleaner won’t be a recurring element, that thing’s really annoying.

I just had a nice relaxing shower, which may have involved a bit of singing. Miss Meow was very excited to hear caterwauling and promptly joined in, singing the song of her people from the other side of the door.

I must be very blessed with musical pets, as Mr Woof has in the past enthusiastically joined in for a sing along to piano playing.

The unauthorised closed door may have contributed to the caterwauling. She does normally supervise toothbrushing and similar activities, but I prefer to have the door closed while showering in case seeing me trapped in a small box full of falling water causes Miss Meow unnecessary distress.

Oh my god… I’d been getting more and more annoyed that my apartment air conditioning is seemingly blowing unconditioned air. My real estate agency’s office is closed for its holiday so I figured I’d open up the controller thing on the wall and have a look-see. Turns out the dial thing has 2 screws which hold it against some kind of switch behind it and the plastic where one of the screws screws in is broken so it wasn’t being pressed against the switch. WHY WOULD THAT NEED TO BE A THING??? I don’t want to think about how much money I’ve wasted running this thing as basically a fan. I have been avoiding using it a bit though so it shouldn’t be too bad but I do wonder when it broke.

Anyway I don’t have any superglue and I can’t get it properly fixed, so I have deployed a highly technical short-term fix.

The building charges for air conditioning as its own unit by volume, rather than it being included in the electricity :(

You must have had quite a few bottles. How much did you need to recycle to get that back?

I’m just weighing up if it’s worth it.

Post holiday detox is going pretty good, body starting to feel a bit normal again.

I’m also kind of loving all this rain, as it prevents my neighbour from mowing and watering his lawn. He must be raging right now.

A couple of weeks ago I roasted a chook in the airfryer which turned out superbly. It was a 1.5 kg $15 organic free range bird. Today’s chook is an Aldi 1.5 kg $6.40 I don’t know what kind of life it lead common bird.

Questions that will be answered are: will it taste as good? Is there much difference in taste and did I just arse it last time?

I need to stay off news sites. It’s all terrible.

I’n the meantime sleep sucks and I am burning energy manually polishing some stainless steel. Man, doing this stuff is a killer.

I did snag a favourite delicious chicken sammich before all the vultures turned up, that was good. A lot more people out and about on the road than yesterday.

I have also been partially culling clothes and spring cleaning-ish. It all feels like a bit of starting everything and finishing nothing atm.

    I need a nap.

I gave up news a week before the referendum and it’s been great. I’ve dipped in occasionally lately if I know there’s something going on, storms and stuff, but I’m mostly living in ignorant bliss. Terrible things will continue to happen. I don’t need to personally bear witness, they’ll happen anyway.

      Definitely have a nap.

Come over the Nullabor. We have 36° tomorrow and humidity is so not a factor in our weather that I don’t even know what it is. It’s always just called “a dry heat”.

Bring bathers: it’s definitely beach weather.
