Been trying to remember my password for the last few days, I’ve given up so new account.

Found out I have asthma today and that’s the reason for my cough that just won’t let up. I didn’t know you could develop it as an adult? What a nice Christmas present.

It could be due to bad asthma thunderstorms, which have been happening recently. Might want to get yourself a ventolin puffer just in case

Doc prescribed me both a preventative puffer to take for the next couple weeks and the normal blue one. I just had the blue puffer earlier and I feel like I can breathe again! And barely any cough. I didn’t realise how constricted my breathing was until now.

Hoping this is seasonal and will be gone once pollen season is over 🤞

I hope so too, my cat has asthma attacks and allergies plus I’ve been having a bit of it as well.

Wearing masks can apparently help filter out some of the pollen which helps. I’ve been keeping a door cracked (screen locked) for fresh air but may need to stop doing that. And will have to check if aircons pulling in pollen from outside is a myth

          Ah so they can ಠ_ಠ

Well my camping/hiking trip has come to an abrupt end, looks like I’ve torn the upper part of my tibialis anterior (doc said its a grade two)… Lots of pain and waiting to see what the doctors want to do, but it looks like I will be couch bound for a while.

I have had to put the laptop away to stop myself going mad. The bot will be out of action for a while longer.

They have changed the way logging in works (as many people have noticed) and all of the programming for daily posts use a piece of information that no longer exists ☹️

I was up nearly all night in pain. My watch says I got 1 hour and 52 minutes of sleep which sounds about right.

In brighter news, I’ve decided I want to end more group conversations with “you guys… you’re the real heroes”

I find if I have indigestion it’s because I’m a little blocked up at the other end. Once I’ve released I’m as good as gold.

Anyway you’re the real hero. 👍

It didn’t take long for old habits to rear their head - up till nearly 1am mashing through the final tranche of work, feeling totally disembodied and not present.

blah blah blah minor work rant

But then again, it’s because I also spent several hours in the day on two separate catchups, one with a specific colleague who’s also leaving this week (amazing, awesome, energising, life reaffirming chat)… and then one with the rest of the team which I really shouldn’t have gone for even though it was specifically to say bye to leaving staff… It was kinda awkward especially as my boss basically cold shouldered me the entire time. Bruh. I got free food out of it though so alright then.

Another catchup today with a very dear person I haven’t been in touch with for years, and then Friday is the “real” xmas sendoff with the whole business group. Literally only turning up on Friday because I want to say bye to the other director and I will be finally handing in my laptop, phone and office keys at the end of the day.

Even if I might need to crunch long hours later today so I can wrap everything up by Friday, it’s the last time FOR REAL and I know I can choose not to reinstate bad mental and physical habits, and start rebuilding good ones in the days to come.

You’ve done a lot of work to get to where you are.

I hope Friday’s party is a lot of fun and finally after this week you won’t have to deal with your horrible boss ever again!

Second last day of work (until next week) and bosses are trying to tie things up before they go on leave.

My standard reply is “i’m here next week, so I’ll look at it then”, fully knowing they’re all off until mid Jan.

I love end of year fuckery

Th mix is made and is good but was too soft for the moulds. In the fridge and then try again.

    Well, some things never change.

Stood around at JB trying to catch the eye/arm of anyone in a lanyard.

10 minutes later I left and bought the same product in about 30 seconds. Granted it cost $10 more, but quite frankly my time is worth more than the $1 per minute that JB expected me to wait around.

Did you demand to speak with the manager? 😁

My JB protip is to go the games or TVs section, or gaming even. There’s usually staff there.

Ok so to cap off this year I have a time line. Feel free to add in any I missed.

    January: Fuck it’s hot! 🔥

    July: Fuck it’s cold! ❄

September: Where’s the fucking sun? ☀

November: Fuck. It’s six weeks to Christmas! I swear this year’s gone fast! 🎄

    December: Fuck it’s Christmas! I haven’t even start shopping yet! 💩 🎁

Dreamed that I was living in Japan…. It was such a good feeling to be away from all the bullshit currently in my life. I’d love nothing more but to sell up and move away for a peaceful life. Japanese culture vibes with me, introvert, rules, respect, politeness etc.

Have a Tatts ticket for Saturday. Fingers crossed.

There’s also rigid social norms, excessive work hours and a population time bomb.

I guess my point is there is no nirvana and it’s tempting to romanticize somewhere else when things are shit in your life now. But things must be examined with a critical eye.

xpat life is different to local life

it can be a good break from life back home , distance can give perspective and a mental break , and that can give strength to cope with the ordinary troubles of everyday life.

I mean sure you could say that about any holiday destination.

But she said she dreamed about living in Japan which to me suggests an expat existence.

And expats may be given a free pass on a lot of things but many expats report feeling disconnect and isolated because they are not part of the culture so that has it’s own issues too.

I created a new dessert. I didn’t have topping for my icecream so I melted biscoff spread in the microwave, drizzled it on the top followed by crumbed biscoff biscuits. It was a bit like a Golden Gaytime on steroids. And that is how I created a masterpiece.

Whoops. My catchup today ended up going from 10-2:45… Enjoyed it so so much though. I am so grateful I reconnected with the person I met today, after 3 years’ silence…

Gonna be a long night doing this final piece of work!
