Had an attempted break-in last night. Bit of a worry.

There goes my sleep for the next while.

Maybe borrow a dog for a while. Hambam? I would imagine being licked to death by a border collie would be enough to discourage even the most ardent feef.

I could send Misha. Ain’t nothing like having ten ton of fat bitch coming at you convinced you have cheese

(she thinks everyone has cheese. And its hers by divine right)

I’d actually think Butters would be a better bet.

But jeez waking up to that is going to throw me for a bit.

I’m sorry mate. I’ve had cooked people repeatedly try to get into mine before and it is an awful hypervigilant feeling.

Time to Home Alone it? Whatever makes you feel better. Perhaps with luck a pile of pots and pans in front of the entry point will alert neighbours/break the intruder’s neck.

Someone came into the office today with a fairly nasty cough.

They were asked to go work from home about 15 minutes later.

They started protesting ‘But I’m already here and it took me an hour to get to work!!’

The absolute fucking brainless audacity of this moron…

At least someone told them to go home. Been in a workplace where the boss didn’t care. Everyone kept getting sick from this guy who would refuse to stay home when sick.

The DT hath spoken. I shall request extra pay.

I’ll get a day-in-lieu anyway because I’m working cup day. Noice!

Patted this seemingly friendly boi while visiting a friend (stray/neighbourhood cats are common in this country), he was enthusiastically rubbing himself all over me and enjoyed being picked up by my friend, but once I scritched his cheek he loved it for 2.5 seconds and then flipped a switch and gave my hand a very deep chomp that literally struck a nerve 🥲 went to a GP just to be sure and got some oral and topical antibiotics.

I have been having shit luck with cats here this time which is sad.

So last night’s attempted home invasion has brought me to bringing a golf club to bed. I have chosen a 5 iron.

But seriously worrying about this shit was not on my 2023 bingo card.

So I’m now in the process of working out how much paranoia is healthy. Like do you set up a little random timer for a light(s), a camera would be pointless after the fact. The motion sensor out the front works but wasn’t a deterrent.

Rationally, statistically it’s not common. Seeing it first hand is making me irrational.

I had an attempted break in a few years ago during the day. They ran when they saw me appeared at the window. Never returned. If the attempted home invasion was more of a thief nature rather than a robbery nature I’d say you’ll be fine.

What you need to do is set up some speakers and a German shepherd/ rottweiller sound track on your phone. You hear a noise, you press play.

Cameras can sometimes be a deterrant, and the ones you can see through an app on your phone can quickly reassure you that a sound was just a possum. Or can let you know if there’s anyone sus outside, giving you the jump to get out the back door and/or call the cops.

Give yourself a break. You’ve been through a shaking experience and don’t need to beat yourself up about your reactions

Playing around with the vplates website for a laugh (I can’t see me bothering with custom plates) and this is available for someone who wants to express their road rage through their plates:

So tired. I just want to sleep, but I have work tomorrow and Saturday, 10am start and 8am start respectively.

    Penalty rates or a day-in-lieu? Decisions decisions…

I’m so tired of trying to be positive all the time. There’s now actually a genuinely shitty attitude bleeding through because I can’t seem to be treated respectfully or catch a break.

    It’s been a bad day.

Can you please send us a screenshot of the “Hostname” you are referring to?

…Why do I have to explain to the support team for networking equipment what a fuggen hostname is?
