    Door stuck send halp 😩

REA sending someone, hopefully they come soon. Atleast I won’t have to pay for this one 💁‍♂️

E: God damn it. The REA sent me details of the tradie and when I called him, he said he’s not working until next week. What the hell REA 🙄 now they aren’t answering the phone ffs

E2: an hour back the new tradie said they’ll be there within the hour but now they called and said they won’t be here until 4pm. I’m so annoyed now. Annoyed and jetlagged.

Try pulling the door towards you then pull down on the handle and push.

I have to do this when my door swells from the heat at times.

Only thing I’m unsure of is if the key is actually unlocking the door for you.

Do you have the tradie’s reply as a text? If so, then call the fire brigade - and tell them that you are trapped. And mention that the tradie the REA specified can’t attend until next week. Ask if they have a tradie they can recommend who IS available. Give the REA’s details as the contact if you’re game.

The fire brigade don’t make tradie recommendations. The only advice you will be given is to call a locksmith. There are plenty of 24hr locksmiths around, finding one and arranging it are up to you.

The only reason to call the fire brigade if you are locked in (or out) is if there is a life threatening emergency, like having an infant locked inside unatended or if you are a diabetic needing to access your insulin. In that case the brigade can attend and break the door down for you.

No, I called the tradie and he told me he’s not working. I just met the REA as she was in the building and she’s arranged for someone else to come let me in. Hopefully this one comes soon.

What I don’t understand is, how does the REA not know that the tradie is not working? How did they assign him a job without checking??? 🙄

most of them dont know. Trades HATE using the REA’s platform because the REA’s platform is often dogshit or worse try to charge the trade to use it (by the platform owner, not the REA). plus REAs are just customers of the tradies, so the tradies dont necessarily tell the REA that they are going on holiday. Even if they did (and some do) most systems dont have the capability to mark the trade as absent till X date.

Long story short: its a process less hellhole of organization.

I don’t have anything sharp on me unfortunately so I just have to wait for the tradie to save me :(

It’s similar to how V/Line allocates emergency replacement buses.

They have a big list, and start calling the first one. If they can’t do it, they get bumped down the list and they call the next bus operator on the list, until they have a hit.

It’s much easier than having to track the availabilities of every operator.
