How desperate do you have to be for coffee to rock up to the servo in your pjs and dirty 1970s dressing gown?

    And no it wasn’t me.

And here I was 3 days ago watching a 60+yo enthusiastic beer drinker in budgie smugglers buying sausages and bread at the local IGA and no one blinked an eye.

Beach town though so free pass to him.

enthusiastic and budgie smuggler shouldn’t be in the same sentence

But you noticed. Had he been wearing appropriate attire you wouldn’t be telling this story.

          appropriate attire

This is where it becomes confusing for me.

For the setting it is appropriate, this IGA is next to a beach and people walk in wearing their beach stuff, both / all sexes, all ages.

In Melbs I’d be scratching my head if I saw it heh

            Yeah I guess.

I once saw a man in a chemist talking to the staff dressed as Hugh Hefner. That’s probably the weirdest I’ve seen.

I’ve seen fluffy slippers and gown in a supermarket before. Does that count?

Did you see the guy on the news recently complaining about too many people (women, I think) wearing g-string bathers, and he didn’t want to see all the bums? It was on a beach in QLD, and somewhat off the beach too

        Anything goes at the servo;
        Old PJs with fluffy slippers,
Hair in rollers, buy that zippo!
        Buy those overpriced lollies,
        Classic, absolute ripper!
Rock up in a cosplay from 1970,
No judgement, you need that coffee.
Whether one is C-Suite or suitless,
        Whether blue collar or white,
The servo is a safe place,
It’ll sort you out, set you right!

I don’t know. I think the minimum you can do is pop a jumper and a pair of pants on while mingling in society. I know my standards are high.

People could rock up in their undies and I wouldn’t judge them. The servo is a safe space for any and all sartorial choices.

Comments below notwithstanding, I think it depends on context. My niece lived for a while in a flat near a servo, but there was a halfway house for mentally challenged people not far away. My niece rocked up to the servo in a dressing gown to get emergency milk late one night, and the staff at the servo locked the doors and kept her there chatting until the supervisor of the halfway house could get there and verify that she wasn’t one of their clients.

That’s honestly really good of them. If a real client showed up and wasn’t okay, they’d have done everything they could to keep them safe until the cavalry arrived

Indeed. Once my niece realised what was happening, she couldn’t stop laughing or telling the story more widely. Which is why I feel OK about sharing this here.

I would have thought chenille in pale pink or blue or yellow. Off white with trim sounds a bit 90s to me, but I could be wrong.

Comfy is the whole point of a dressing gown I reckon. Mine is faux fur leopard print. I love it. Too daggy for words though.
