I’m really tired of the enshitification of clothes. You used to be able to wear, wash, even tumble dry a tshirt for years before it wore out. Now they go out of shape after a single wash. I would happily pay for good quality if it existed, but the extra $ for expensive brands is paying only for the logo, not quality. I’ve had a comedic realisation this is what it will be for the rest of my life, I don’t see clothes quality going back to how it was. RIP my wardrobe forever. Welcome to the future - no world peace, flying cars or spaceships. Just shitty tshirts.

^ I am not the lone voice raging against this!

It’s so noticeable. And it’s going to lead to a Sam Vines cycle of spending a lot on buying shitty clothes while still not having anything good to wear.

Unfortunately op shops will get worse with lower quality donations inevitably coming in and sewing fabric is affected too

I remember paying 30 bucks for a white tshirt. I spilt a drop of coffee on it and no matter what I did, I could not get it out.

      Fuck that.

I order my T’s from a yankee shop called “pro club”. They last me about 2 years or so for me, but then start to develop little holes. Probably easily fixed with a sewing kit. They’re pricey though. The shirts look cheap cause it’s in USD, but they really aren’t. And however much you spend, that’s also basically the price of shipping. i.e if you order $100 of T-Shirts, you’ll pay another $100 in shipping = $200. Now double that, and that’s your total cost in Aussie dollarydoos after tax.

For shirts, socks, and undies, I go with Kmart special. I get a few of the $10-$20 Kmart chinko shorts once a year, similar story with undies. My socks (thick workwear ones), have actually lasted me about 3 years at this point and haven’t even worn through. The older ones feel a bit more compressed, but they’re still completely fine. They were good purchases. Also from Kmart
