I was rooting around in the cupboard and came across these.

I have no idea what they are used for. Obviously one is a jug, one a glass and the other lid/saucer. I tried google search photo thing but they come up separately. What are they? Who gave them to me? Why are they a set? It’s got me stumped.

Hard to tell from photo - what is the capacity of the jug? Cos you might might might be looking at an absinthe set without the strainer. Which would be a rarity as absinthe was illegal for a long time.

Would not rule out the absinthe option as the size is about right. The saucer would be the spoon rest for the strainer after use.

Alternatively, the saucer thingy may be a spoon rest to go with the milk/sugar bowl as mentioned in the other comments.

Cream and sugar set? With the saucer to catch drips under the cream pourer?

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking too. The “lid” fits perfectly on the “sugar bowl” but there’s a lip on the top which must have a purpose. If it’s used under the jug then there’s no lid for the sugar. Maybe I keep digging in the cupboard. Maybe there’s more I’m unaware of but doubt it.

Maybe the jug sits on top of the lid on top of the sugar bowl?
