Is it normal for an apartment (one of those 2-story ones) to not be perfectly flat?

I received a desk and chair from my employer… the chair has a tendency to kinda roll in one direction.

Given the quality of builds here it’s not surprising.

      Should it happen? Hell no.

I opened this message while eating, put my legs in the chair, and I started rolling back and only stopped after crashing into the couch behind me.

Baku :( I really hope you will be in a better situation asap, seems you’ve been having really bad luck with everything.

I have a big hole in my floor from an old ducted heating pipe, but I have shoved a doormat and set of drawers on top of it so it does not whistle. I probably get a bit of air leak through all the old vents though. The worst wind incursions are through the laundry, which has a big gap under the door and around the pipe under the sink. Every time there is a big gust of wind the metal sink cupboard door rattles loudly. It used to have a dodgy sliding door to the room that would rattle too, but that broke a few years ago and I’ve replaced it with an insulated curtain that works well to keep the cold/hot out and definitely does not rattle.

I do have a completely blocked off chimney, but unless the possums who live in there start a fire there should not be a fire risk.

My biggest stress with this sort of weather is water leaks and the fear of a sheet of iron coming off the roof, as I’ve had issues with both of those things in the past. Every time I hear something rattle or drip I’m trying to work out if I have water coming inside - the idea of rain on the roof being a soothing sound is something I have not had in a long time. Maybe one day I will live in a house with a trustworthy roof and be able to experience that again.

I saw a video yesterday where a building inspector put a level on the ground in a new build and it wasn’t level. Also had water leaks and the like.
