My best mate in HS was a big fan for some unfathomable reason. I can’t watch em BUT the soundtracks are absolute rippers. I grew up on all the theme songs. They are so bloody good. I can accept how the franchise was an iconic part of the English speaking world in the latter part of the 20th c.
What sexism? The Bond movies are full of assertive independent women . Some good, some bad. Many try to kill Bond. In Goldfinger Ms Galore threatened Bond with a gun and was going to commit mass murder using a weapon of mass destruction. What should Bond have done with such a person?
the older movies have a greater number of deaths but the newer movies have more one on one fights, the fights are nastier and more deaths are shown on screen. The new movies seem more violent.
Man talk? That was confidential state secrets. What was he going to say?
And did he threaten Miami woman with a gun? Miami woman also wasn’t a colleague.
sure, Bond can be a dick sometimes but put it into perspective.
taps a woman on the bum vs woman is going to use a weapon of mass destruction
it’s a different world, I wouldn’t be focusing on Bond, I’d be looking at the all the examples of psychopaths and all the violence as something to worry about
Dude, he full on sexually assaults Pussy when she won’t have any of his ‘charms’ which magically makes her change sides, and the two sisters are fridged to motivate bond - one of whom is literally punished for having sex, and laid out in such a violently pornographic tittilation that it’s considered an iconic example of such.
Mr Smeg wanted to watch a Bond movie so we’re watching Goldfinger.
My Mum never let Bond movies play in our house. She couldn’t stand the sexism.
I can see her point. Funny movie but very much a product of its time.

Hrm by today’s standards though the older bonds wouldn’t fly today.
We’re not far into the movie and that was our thought as well.
The new movies are still very violent.
They also have much better CGI

I used to love all the Bond movies. But then The Bourne Identity came out, and it changed the whole genre for the better.
The Bourne fight scenes just blow my mind. I would have never picked Matt Damon as an action actor so a lot of respect there.
There was scene in Miami at the start where he shooed a woman aside saying “man talk” and smacking her bum as she walked away.
Just little things like that
