2019 Joker would have been over in 5 minutes with a social safety net. Instead Gotham has a billionaire that dresses up in a costume to hunt the poor and they’re supposed to love him for it.

It’s also more or less just a recap of the consequences of reaganomics, but yeah, it’s pretty blunt about how avoidable the entire plot could have been.

The Reeves Batman movie also did the same shit. The entire movie they expose the businessmen and politicians and Bruce Wayne’s family. Then the end everyone is just okay with it because he helped a couple of them during a terrorist attack.

All the problems exposed during the movie? Never mentioned again.

This is why Telltale did it better. They stuck with Bruce’s family being corrupt and while they don’t fix the Arkham stuff, you can treat John like a human being which was refreshing

I really quite like Telltale’s batman. It’s got plenty of problems like any telltale game and like any batman story, but it works pretty well.

Why is this a revelation? Batman’s villains are all semi-permanent residents at a literal mental hospital for the criminally insane. This is explicitly explained in picture books for children.

I don’t know what “intersectional” means, but she’s gay. Or at least bi.

Intersectional means dealing with multiple angles of oppression simultaneously. Poison Ivy faces discrimination for being a woman and for being queer, as well as being working class. However, her work, which is opposed to environmental exploitation and thus opposes capitalism, does not work on any other fronts against capitalism, making her work less meaningful. If she also fought for queer rights, that would make her work intersectional.

My review of the latest Batman movie https://hexbear.net/post/1227597

Lol at the end of the movie Bruce monologues about le hope and healing. Literally we just need good vibes to improve the city. Never mind that the mob still rules politics. Never mind that the abused orphans and other marginalized groups aren’t even acknowledged. Why are people so violent and the city so lawless? Who knows? The dropheads just manifest outta nowhere and start looting!!

Just hope. Just vote for the right politician, okay? Vote for the bat no matter how bad!!

As dog shit as the DCEU movies are, at the very least they made the enemy some big goofy alien instead of trying to be a commentary on society. A billionaire furry fighting an alien invasion is much less insulting than him fighting some drug dealer

This is why Court of the Owl Batman is the only interesting Batman, because it’s the only time he has to face real power and real evil in the form of Gotham’s bourgeoisie, and it whoops his ass

You fuckers are so dim. Critiquing media and art has been around forever, but you’re so afraid of contradictions at this point you start crying about cancel culture whenever anyone brings up the most low level analysis. It’s so fucking stupid lmao

No, I was pointing out that you seem to need a visual queue to understand sarcasm… might have saved you some time instead of needing to go on a rant

Oh, almost never, I’m just saying that here the knowledge it’s meant to be somehow sarcastic doesn’t actually make their intent for the comment clear.
Are they trying to mock the idea of cancelling? Of cancelling such a popular character? Of cancelling a fictional character? Of cancelling Batman specifically?
Why make it sarcastic? What makes it sarcastic? Is it actually sarcastic, or is this person a CHUD hiding behind the idea of saying things you don’t mean as a defence?
Why are @kowcop@aussie.zone’s replies just saying it’s sarcasm instead of trying to articulate anything about their viewpoint?

it’s all just a bit amogus

Yeah maybe I guess. I don’t usually need it, because there’s generally some sort of joke or exaggeration involved with sarcasm.

Batman’s psychosis is continuing to believe in a clearly corrupted system that fails repeatedly. Red Hood was right.
