  • And if you where Palestinian and your children where being bombed right now, would you really have a shred of fucking pity for some guy in the US saying that they have no choice but to support the guy murdering your kids right now? They don’t get a difference, they don’t get a fucking mitigation of suffering. They just suffer, and you have an allowance of that suffering you can accept, or at least find more acceptable than not voting.

Remember that people voted for MPs who they knew wouldn’t take office all the while being brutalized and killed by British secret police and death squads in the occupied six counties. Those folks had the dignity and strength to refuse to vote for politicians who would lessen the death squads or at least said they would. They chose to very publicly throw their votes away so someone else could publicly throw their seat away in protest.

Withhold your consent, that is actionable. That does at the very least NOT contribute to making people unsafe. Otherwise you will continue to excuse and accept piles of corpses while telling yourself that the other guy would make a bigger pile. You can just not shovel more bodies on the pile for any of them. It won’t change things, but it will be more meaningful than investing emotional energy in voting and thinking you have the ability to change things at the ballot.

Until you throw away this need to vote, you cannot move forward politically

  • You mean when the various attempts at a anti-nazi pact were thrown aside by the British and Poles, even when Romania was ready to have the Red Army flown over their borders to Czechoslovakia but Poland and England threw a hissy-fit and Poland signed a pact with the Nazis to get a chunk of Czechoslovakia? You mean after Britain sent diplomats on the slowest route to the USSR to discuss an alliance only for them to arrive and be told by England that they had no power to sign anything and to just waste the Soviet’s time? Which pissed the delegation off and led to them admitting the truth to Voroshilov. Or England refusing talks because they included the Baltic states which they said shouldn’t be involved, while also rejecting talks because they didn’t involve said states. Or when Chamberlain wrote to his sister repeatedly that he was actively trying to get the Nazis to attack the USSR. Or when Poland’s government responded to France by saying that they literally view the Soviet people as subhuman and that they’d rather by occupied by their fellow “pure” Germans.

    You mean that context?

Poland was going to be invaded, the Soviets hastily saved a chunk of its army and people, which happened to include almost entirely territory that is not actually Polish. Or is Belarus “part of Poland” same with Vilnius?

  • Eugen Levine, head of the Bavarian Soviet Republic. Probably got the closest to a successful German revolution, beating the socdem military at Dachau of all places and executed major aristocrats including founders of the Thule Society which would serve as a direct predecessor to the Nazis esoteric views. The government brought in the Friekorps despite swearing they had no involvement in all those terrible things they let them do previously, and sicced them on the soviet. Many died, Levine was arrested, Einstein famously writes in his defense but it is clear he is gonna die.

Levine’s final words at his trial are legendary https://www.marxists.org/subject/germany-1918-23/levine/last-words.htm

We Communists are all dead men on leave. Of this I am fully aware. I do not know if you will extend my leave or whether I shall have to join Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg. In any case I await your verdict with composure and inner serenity. For I know that, whatever your verdict, events cannot be stopped. The Prosecuting Counsel believes that the leaders incited the masses. But just as leaders could not prevent the mistakes of the masses under the pseudo-Soviet Republic, so the disappearance of one or other of the leaders will under no circumstances hold up the movement.

And yet I know, sooner or later other judges will sit in this Hall and then those will be punished for high treason who have transgressed against the dictatorship of the proletariat.

Pronounce your verdict if you deem it proper. I have only striven to foil your attempt to stain my political activity, the name of the Soviet Republic with which I feel myself so closely bound up, and the good name of the workers of Munich. They - and I together with them - we have all of us tried to the best of our knowledge and conscience to do our duty towards the International, the Communist World Revolution.
