Good morning Australia. Yesterday’s sourdough turned into a rock on the outside but at least it’s still soft on the inside. Spent half an hour painstakingly sawing off the crust. At least I have a cake for backup breakfast.
Oh. Don’t mind me I’ve never baked bread before but I’m thinking about it and I’ve seen a lot of recipes that suggest using a Dutch oven. If you’re still on reddit check out r/breadit.

Is the crust too tough to make crumbs from? Makes a nice home made coating for chicken.
The crust went “crack” instead of “crunch”.
Ah. I bet the bread is still tasty though. Most of my attempts at bread fail because I always seem to get the oven temp/cook time wrong :(
Do you put it in a Dutch oven to cook?
Normal oven. Mine has a “bread” setting that only uses the lower element and has higher temps. I did moisten the outside before baking it.

Yeah I cooked bread for the first time in like May I think? And I used a Dutch oven, worked great!
That’s good to hear. I really need to bake bread now. Wish me luck.
I believe in ya! I followed this recipe, though it does take like a day.
That’s easy. Very doable. Thank you.
