I do not understand modern poetry at all. Just a mess of words that I cannot interpret. Am I poetry dyslexic? Is there such a thing?

I used to know another one too. This was a song sung to a clapping game

"Under the bamboo under the tree true love for you true love for me ( that’s all I can remember, it was over 50 years ago!! )

here it is from the net. https://babyrhymes.com/kids-songs/under-the-bamboo-tree/

(i mean nothing by this post, it’s just a nursery rhyme, I remembered it because the same girl who taught me the giraffe song taught me that . )

I love Jaberwocky too! That’s good poetry. Your compositions are lovely too! I mean the stuff that goes ‘Afternoon dog desk, then I under fork the bath of contemplation, put my jeans, on sky did. Evermore!’ (Disclaimer: not a real poem I just made that rubbish up as an example)

I have a soft spot for Walt Whitman, it’s like everything that is beautiful about America. Byron and Shelley of course . My fave Aussie modern poet is Les Murray.

maybe confusion or puzzlement is the emotion the poet intended to evoke
