tbh, we may not FIND any brain for some of these folks.
“hey I got an email back in October that I have to do something before this week or you’ll delete all my shit. Anyway I’m only just reading it now and demand your immediate assistance” uhh how about fuck off there buddy, your failure to plan doesnt make this an emergency to me.
I hope that project manager got a new job in hell, cause he wasnt qualified to run a 7/11! Naturally, he will probably end up in federal government.
We had an ‘drop what you’re doing this is urgent’ request a while back. Our dept was getting audited and we had to gather information. Our data keeping is pretty damn good, so it’s not issue.
The issue was that this shit was due at 4pm, and we didn’t find out until 11 am that day.
Why? Because the person who was meant to inform us, simply didn’t do it. They were the liaison between us and the Auditor general. The email was in their inbox for about 4 days.
But because they were favourite of some directors, there were not repercussions. Our team still had to scramble and complete the tasks.
Yeah that wouldnt fly for me right now.
They’ve just made a bunch of folks redundant. Fire me if they dare but they are so short staffed on people who are prepared to put up with their bullshit I dont think they’ll try.
Out of 20 people across 2 teams, there are 16 on contracts that expire mid next year. There is heaps of work to do and we need bodies.
No extensions have been discussed (apparently will start in January). I know of 4 that are actively looking, 3 that have offers, and another 5 that are starting to look in the New Year.
The middles managers know this and are doing what they can to retain staff, but the execs are ignoring shit and giving boilerplate answers that say nothing.
Meanwhile all these staff are needed to achieve the goals that are being hammered into us on the daily.
On my mates at work was thinking of recording one of the directors talking and replaying it with the Benny Hill music in the background.
8 Days of work left. Thor, lend me your strength.
Or your hammer to smash the skulls of idiots.
Same here, counting down.
You’d think it gets easier as we reach the end but it only gets busier.
Execs going on leave next week, we want approvals for things beforehand and they’re snowed under.
But somehow it’s our responsibility to get shit done.
Very much over it to be honest.
Meanwhile people are getting sick here, losing their voices and catching covid.
And the messaging we get is
Take care of yourself and your loved ones during this time of the year. Mental health is important…
Shit house hypocrisy at it’s finest
Gonna need to borrow that hammer after you are done with it. I’ll do my best to clean the brains off it when I’m done.
Keep the brain matter on. Adds to the mood
