It is of interest that the only reason most people cite for not participating here, is the user interface of the platform and that it takes precedence over the familiarity and pleasure of interactions with the long-standing group of DT users who are here now.

      …If that makes sense

So you mean they don’t care about us as much as their pretty little reddit page :(

I think also some of them didn’t like the regulars in there that came over here. Something about an echo chamber or something.

I still use Reddit for communities that didn’t migrate but I didn’t fully appreciate what the mods did by shutting down Melbourne for an extended time.

I hope we can grow this community though, there’s room for both unless Reddit implodes and goes under.

Well that’s the more succinct version yes. There’s a lot to be said for a smooth user interface experience I guess. And familiarity of the platform.

Which is a bit odd, given that most people need to use RES to be able to interact in a satisfying way with reddit.

I took a peek at the the Reddit DT a couple of days back. Didn’t recognise half the usernames and not many posts. On a good day the DT could get over 1000 posts. Sad what it’s become but glad we have this. Yes Lemmy is not as visually appealing as Reddit but that’s not the reason I use Reddit, it’s for the community.
