After doomscrolling on the couch for nearly 5 hours I peeled myself away while I had a carshare still available to go stock up on some plant goodies.

    1. It was like motherfucking Queensland outside, gross
    2. Does anyone do 80 in the reduced speed section of the M3? I was very confused.
    3. Can’t fucking recognise Bulleen Road after a year, holy shit. The roads are HUGE. The big old tree in front of the servo didn’t avoid the chop, huh. I need to update myself on this whole project.
    4. It’s criminal how easily I can hand over my money to BAAG
    5. Visited new Preston Bunnings as well and kinda like the new vibe compared to the dustiness of the old one; very happy about the plant pot dropoff, have excitedly cleared my balcony of accumulated pots

Tomorrow I want to doomscroll a lot less and get some major gardening going after months of mostly bare minimum. A lot of repotting, massive soil refreshment, resuscitating dried out potting mix, desperately need to move the manzano somewhere more sheltered, and I’m gonna try these basil seedlings in the hot big planter box and hope I repeat my success from 2 years ago and get half a litre of pesto out of them.

I liked Old Preston Bunnings better. I find it annoying to have to navigate the multi storey carpark and escalators when I used to be able to just pop in.

And yes, BAAG is super dangerous! Even to black-thumbed people like me.

True, the carpark navigation is kind of bleah. But ultimately I prefer that they went multi storey rather than sprawl. I’ve only been to Old Preston a few times but parking was a biatch, personally…

I drive the 80 zone on the M3 every day, twice a day. It amazes me the people that just fly through. It’s not that hard to do the speed limit?

People seem to think that if it’s a temporary limit (but for months), there’s no obvious roadworks, and no cameras/cops, they’ll do the original speed anyway. See: 60 zone on West Gate Fwy…

Many don’t care that the emergency lane is gone so it has to be 80, nothing gets in the way of their usual commute!

I’m so relieved I don’t need to do that drive for work any more

To be fair in similar situations the emergency lane is there and workers were just too lazy to take the signs in. I guess the point is that if you use the signs when you really need them people will respect them. But if they are just left sitting around unnecessarily it breeds contempt and people start ignoring them.

yes! I have found full sun burns up any flower buds, and no flower buds means no chilies.

I’m lucky that mine is over a year old and has already cropped profusely so plenty of chillies harvested with a few more ripening - but it really could be happier in semi shade over the hottest days, especially recovering from being unwatered and having that infestation.
