I’m from a dysfunctional family and I understand the dilemma. Sometimes listening to others stories can be cathartic because it make me feel less alone or shamed knowing it happens to others too. But the flipside is it can bring up memories and sadness. It a fine balance of to watch or not to watch.

I don’t get sad, i’m years past that
I just get drawn back into the negative and untrue beliefs about myself that the bad people told me
it’s normal and empathic for people to think they are the problem
You lack the confidence to be dysfunctional and socially inept 😎
This is true!!
I end up catatrophising and I end up feeling like everything I do is bad and dysfunctional or that i’m hopeless at human interactions
( i’m not perfect, i get lots of things wrong, i might even be mean sometimes, doesn’t mean i’m a narcissist )
