Problem is so many of us has this ego driven self assurance that we know the rules and abide by the rules better than everyone else.

I’s listening to Comedian v Economist (spotify) a few weeks back, one of them stated the only way he thinks we can stop it, is by taking the responsibility of driving out of peoples hands. He was referring to self driving cars as the solution. I instinctively disagreed, but a few weeks on, i dont know, i can feel myself shifting on the thought.

Double the points. Quadruple the fine. Make drivers Ed better, eg include defensive driving as a requirement for P plates. Create an interlock for mobile phones. Make people display dangerous driver placards on their car when caught so others know they’re a fuck head.

Thats what i lean to thinking, rightly or wrongly, when i see an ‘E’ plate, so that kinda already exists? /j

Always remember you’re driving a large metal thing that weight 1-2 metric tons and carry a lot of energy. Increasing speed by x2 means increasing braking distance by x4.

To get a sense of the energy in a moving car, cut the engine, put it on neutral on a flat parking lot. Try pushing it forward with your bare hands. Now imagine the energy needed to move or stop a car at full speed.
