Secure Delivery with a One-Time Password

Due to the value of some items, a One-Time Password (OTP) is required on delivery for some orders. Only provide the OTP to your delivery driver in person, and not over the phone or intercom. The OTP will be provided to you on the day of your delivery.

When will my OTP become available? An OTP will be sent to the email address registered with your Amazon account and will be available in the “track your package” section of the Amazon app on the day of your delivery. We send you an OTP when the package leaves an Amazon delivery station, which may be as close to thirty minutes before your order arrives

This is slightly different, as although they are that open about it, they can also deliver the package with just your phone number (or I think it’s the last 4 digits or something like that). AFAICT it doesn’t say not to provide your phone number (though does say not to leave it in the delivery instructions)

Maybe worth contacting Amazon and see if what you experienced is allowed or legit?

Definitely thinking about it after its delivered. Bit hesitant to at the moment in case he’s not meant to and gets in the shit and my parcel ends up having an “accident” into the Maribyrnong river from 130 metres in the air
