I was having that problem, and eventually realised I need to take my glasses *off to be able to see close up now. I’m now both short sighted and long sighted, making finding a point at which I can actually see clearaly quite tricky.
I have been using needle threaders for hand sewing which I never used to need, and replaced my sewing machine with a model that has a needle threader built in.
I needed glasses as a kid, so the likely hood now isn’t a great surprise. Some of those little wire gizmos are probably in the house somewhere or other

Design flaw that having both doesn’t cause them to cancel out, really.
Really need to get my eyes checked. Sat down to do a quick pile of mending and spent 90% of the time failing to thread a needle.
Do the the trusty toothbrush tango - that’s what I do nowadays. Damn getting ooooold - its the little things that really get to me.
