Anyone here remember the music festival that used to run back in the late 90s/early 00s, which was just independent Australian/NZ acts (I think)…? A Something For Kate song just came on and it triggered a whole lost memory of going to the showgrounds back in the day to see Shihad, Powderfinger, Something For Kate etc…wasn’t early BDO, was a smaller indie type thing…
Oh man I’m not entirely sure, but you’ve just unlocked an awesome memory of when I saw Powderfinger/Something for Kate/Stella One Eleven at the Coogee Bay Hotel in Sydney back in '99 - one of my all time fave gigs to this day.
EDIT: Maybe you mean the Livid Festivals in 2002/2003? Powderfinger & SFK did 2002, Shihad 2003. Wasn’t at the Showgrounds though. From what I can see, Powderfinger have only ever played there as part of BDO, nothing else.
Aaah, I’m probably mixing memories then. I didn’t ever go to Livid, but I did many a BDO. I think the show in thinking of was an under-age gig, or at least alcohol free. Was definitely (I’m almost positive) at the showgrounds because I remember knowing my way around on account of going to BDO. Definitely saw Shihad there, thought Something For Kate and Powderfinger too, bit they might have been at the BDO. Custard too, now I’m thinking about it
