    Yeah, long distance trains here are unfortunately not great. The main plus is leg room but unfortunately there’s moderate chance you’re stuck behind a bogan so you don’t get anything. The lack of power outlets is shocking. Last I was on the XPT was in 2010 and only up to Canberra, I honestly preferred driving.

    The trains are OK for distances like Syd<>Canberra.

      I’d for sure drive the Canberra trip. I’d drive the Sydney one too if parking my car for 11 days wasn’t a huge expensive issue!

        I guess there’s a reason why most people fly, though it does get pricey at short notice…

        Sydney to Melbourne drive is honestly extremely boring. Not unless you took the coastal route.

      I do wonder what the Firefly express is like for Sydney to Melbourne trips.

      Whenever I drive interstate with my bus driving friend, he always points out the fancy servos owned by Firefly.
