Most hard sci-fi is traditionally aimed at youthful males. Foundation (books) is fairly traditional, as is most of Asimov. Nuff said.

As a kid I loved that Asimov had teenage characters in his books
I think we all did. Once one had grown out of Andre Norton, and was yet to discover Heinlein.
