The plastic bottle irrigation isn’t working as intended. Leaving the caps off means the water all just runs through fast rather than remaining as a reserve for the plant to sip from. Of course. The opening is too large for capillary action, there is too much air pressing the water down and out the holes.
If putting the cap on quickly after filling doesn’t fix the problem I may remove them and replace with terracotta pots.
I don’t want to have to… at least I’m doing all the initial mistakes on the zucchini plants which are quite tough
Edit: It didn’t work even with the caps on. I think I made too many holes. Fuck it I’m just buying some standard drip spikes.
I was also flipping up leaves to check for whiteflies and accidentally snapped the central vein of a leaf 😭What the hell. I’ve never done that. I’m distracted and out of sorts today

My mum got that working and it sounds like the problem is too many holes.
I think all it takes is one toothpick sized hole and you control the flow with how tight you screw on the cap.
