    Today, I heard someone refer to a flannel shirt as a “western shirt”…I had not heard that one before.

      Whaaaaat! Western shirt - tight fitting cotton plaid, sometimes with press studs. Flannel shirt - made with flannelette cotton (which is thicker) or wool, worn looser with ordinary buttons.

      Two different style of shirts.

      I grew up hearing “western shirt”, another term was a Miller Shirt as that was the popular brand. But then it had to have pearl snaps. I expect flannel shirts have buttons.

        Well I asked about it, and they meant “western suburbs” so I was like …ohh snap!

          They are clearly not western suburbs natives. Anyone who is would know the official uniform is adidas, hoodies, and fancy sneakers.
