Do you ever wonder how many times you’ve sat in the exact seat you’re sitting on in a tram? Or who else of note may have sat where you are? Shoutout to the 11 up Collins because it doesn’t get as much recognition as the trendy tram lines.
I had no idea what to do. I didn’t want to embarrass him by making a scene and he seemed kinda determined to ignore it. What is something you would do in this situation?
Probably something along the lines ‘Hey mate, do you need a bit of help? I can help you find a toilet or call someone perhaps?’ Very quietly of course. And depends on his behaviour too of course. If he seems coherent then definitely, if it’s someone that might having a bit of an episode, I have no idea. Not trained or experienced to deal with such situations unfortunatley.
Yeah any clothes I wear on public transport immediately go in the washing basket when I get home. I’m not sitting on my couch/chairs etc with my germy tram or train clothes.

Also yes I’m on the tram ding ding!
For the sake of my own sanity, I don’t wonder about anything on PT. I just want to get to where I’m going.
Same. I once saw this old man piss himself. It was really sad actually. Ever since I really don’t think about what’s on the seats.
It is sad, isn’t it? My younger self would laugh at such a situation, but now I’d probably try and assist in some way.

incontinence is the number one reason old people get put in homes 😔
Seeing an article about Petri dishes on a UK subway (a long time ago) was enough for me.
I do think how many arses, feet, shopping bags and god knows what else has been on the seat that I’m sitting on with my nice clean clothes.

Don’t forget full nappies
I was thinking more “I have a runny nose. I don’t have a tissue. No worries, I’ll just wipe my snot on this seat. No one will see me”. 🤮
It kind of reminds that you still see STA seat covers on Melbourne buses, even though the NSW government privatised the STA a few years back.
Mainly because when they privatised it, they also gave away a lot of their excess bus seat fabric for peanuts.
