    Already friggin November… I’m barely used to writing “2023” and it’s almost done. I feel like I ‘just’ turned 40 but that was back at the end of April. Time doesn’t march on… it can jog on.

      A “friend” once told me (when I turned 50) that as we get older time seems to go faster because each passing year represents a smaller percentage of our lives. So for example, for a 10 year old a year seems like a huge amount of time because they’ve only experienced ten of them, but for a 50 year old a year seems much smaller because they’ve experienced a lot more of them. I can see their point and it feels like they could be right, but gee fucking thanks, fuck.

        This has certainly been my experience. And doubly so talking about events with kids. I’ll talk about photos of them and the days they were taken. They often don’t remember events that feel really recent for me. I don’t mean baby photos, but photos where they were 5+.
