My daughter is sitting with the cat in her lap, watching the footy and chatting with her friends.
My wife is sleeping on one couch😁
I’m on the other couch watching stuff on the tablet

Oh, I’d bloody take that in a heartbeat, since it’d still be an upgrade from my hundreds of kilometres away from any family situation. It counts.
Mine and wife’s extended families are pretty fucked up.

Being a parent is awesome but also makes you realise that our main job is keeping our kids safe from unnecessary bullshit.

I was chatting to a mate before mine was born, and I said the biggest thing for me is a good parent is no longer the protagonist. Our wants and goals and well-being are still important don’t get me wrong. But if the kid isn’t priority 1, something is wrong.
