Victorians are being asked to fill out the state government’s pet census — the first of its kind in Australia.

Minister for Agriculture Gayle Tierney says she wants to see responses from owners of all sorts of animals.

The minister joins Ali Moore on ABC Radio Melbourne Mornings to explain how the data will be used.

Shouldn’t my cats fill this out as heads of the household? I’m sure as shit not the one in charge.

Do you think your cats respect the authority of the Victorian government? I wouldn’t bet on it.

This is actually a pretty good idea. Get a count of how many animals there are and see what could be built up as a result of the outcome.
