My amber pendant I bought from Ukraine came today. I try to help the people of Ukraine by giving to charities and also buying from individuals over the net.

The pendant is very beautiful so of course I now feel guilty, what if they didn’t want to sell but had to. Am I profiting from misery. It was USD $40 all up so not too cheap but still cheap.

    spoiler

Perhaps, the money is needed more than the trinket. You could keep it, and when the war is over you can contact the seller to post it back (if it was important to them of course)

      It’s very beautiful

That’s a very good idea. 😭 I will keep the post box it came in.

I believe amber is not uncommon in the region, so unless it was a special personal piece, it was probably made for sale. To complicate it, unfortunately illegal amber mining also exists. It’s so hard to know how effective our help is. All we can do is try to do what we think is right. I think you did a good thing!

This was vintage and had obvious signs of wear, so much so I replaced the cord.

Next month I’ll give to Ukraine meals on wheels again.
