I’ve finally succumbed to the reddit API changes.

Lemmy is still a bit strange to me, but I think I’m finally getting it to the point of being similar to what I was seeing on Reddit (albeit with much fewer users and therefore less content).

I’m glad to see the Melbourne daily thread be active here.

Seeing how few users there are on Lemmy also makes me feel like I want to be more active?! I was much more of a lurker on Reddit.

      Welcome!

I think once any group gets too big a lot of people end up just stepping back and watching. On Reddit I always felt that it wasn’t worth contributing, if you didn’t get a popular reply on quickly it would end up sinking and no one would see it. The fast and loud people had lots of entertaining conversations, but there was not much space for the slow and thoughtful. You are not the first person to say you lurked on Reddit but felt you could contribute here. 🙂

Morning. This is becoming more of an Australia-wide daily thread now.

Welcome friend. Feel free to add to a conversation. No one’s going to beat you down. Pet pics are most welcome.

I was also more of a lurker, but it is a lot less intimidating to make a comment or post here. Too many trolls, automatic downvoters and “akshually” types on Reddit. Welcome aboard!

Totally! I always hated that the conversation for something is already in full swing, so your comment wouldn’t be seen by a lot of people. It’s also why I like to contribute more in the DT because on the Reddit one it always felt like reading every comment was so daunting. But being able to have not many people here (with most of the comments being in replies) I can at least catch up when I get home from work or during my lunch break.
