I’m helping a woman at the retirement village and I thought I’d ask here first:

Are there apps that can boost audio during calls? Just through the phone and not just putting the phone on speaker.

This woman was a hearing aid, it uses bluetooth but apparently the app only works on IOS. I’ll look into this and confirm if that’s the case or not.

This means she can’t really use headphones because she already has things in her ears, and she doesn’t want to put her phone on speaker all the time.

Has anyone used anything that works and is decent? I’ll look into her hearing aid brand and see what options there are as well.

You could look at something like RE equaliser. Has a vocal mode which basically just bumps the highs, also has a gain function up to +15db. It’d be clearer with in-ear headphones. UI seems like a bit much but it’s set and forget.

That’s what I was thinking. Some type of boost with a low cut that doesn’t get too sharp. I’ll look into it and I can always help her out with the initial setup

I remember ages ago there was the TTY service but I could be 20 years out of date

I’ve done a quick search and it looks like it’s still a thing. I’ll keep it in mind but I’m not sure it’s completely what she’s after

From what I recall an older model Samsung Galaxy, but not a previous flagship like an old S or anything. A Samsung Android that’s a few years old but not ancient and not an obscure model

apparently that model does have blutooth capacity with hearing aids that have it, but there are some third party google apps that can boost call volumes

The hearing aids have an Android app now and Google Play says my old Huawei is supported so it should work. I’ll look into call volume boosting apps and ad them to the list of suggestions
