Today aussie.zone tipped over 1000 users! Not bad considering I only stood it up 21 days ago (5th of June) 🎉🎆🥂

Thanks for contributing 🫡
🍻 Well done mate. You’ve built a great place for us Aussies to hang out 🍻
Congrats to all who’ve joined and make this instance awesome!
Nice work! I had no idea what I was doing with Lemmy, but I went on r/Australia all the time so this was an obvious choice to sign up to, so glad I did.
Chiming in from Kbin too! Love to see more local stuff grow.

Nice idea, I’ve gone ahead and created /c/GardeningAustralia and borrowed your bottlebrush for the banner picture 🙂
Feel free to move in.
I mentioned it on r/GA but didn’t get a response, happy to have one here!
I’m not into gardening myself but know plenty of people who are. I’ll gladly point them your way if you set it up

Great job with this place. I like how it feels like /r/australia with the communities being like sub-subcommunities.
nice one!

Hi! Newbie to the fediverse/lemmy here. (Reddit lurker refugee) Question, what’s the top capacity of the Aussie server as it stands in terms of users? How scalable are these servers generally? Congrats on setting up a new community board with quick engagement!
Good questions, I’m honestly not sure. As it stands, the server has lots of scale to grow… just a matter of paying OVH more to upgrade it. I don’t expect it to be an issue for us… upgrading the server is relatively quick, just requires a server reboot.
Some larger instances have previously posted their user numbers and when they’ve upgraded… but its in the 10s of thousands, we’re a long way from that being a problem.
More weight!
Fantastic news. Here’s to one thousand more and beyond!
Expecting a jump on 1 July when all the apps go dark?
I really have no idea. On the one hand there has been so much noise about the new API rules, I struggle to see how people can’t be aware of the impending death of their favourite reddit apps. On the other… some people are stuck in their own little bubbles that this news hasn’t permeated, so they’ll get a nasty surprise on the 1st when the apps stop working.
I’m fairly confident the aussie.zone server can handle more than double the current user count on the current hardware. And I can easily increase the specs if and when required.
Is there any way to provide donations to support the instance going forward?
Donated, thank you for creating this community 🙂
Thanks for the support!
Great stuff Lodion. Can’t believe its only been a few weeks.
Congratulations Lodion, thanks for all your effort in creating and maintaining the community!
