Feels a bit ‘let them eat cake’ for me, but i’m not really the target market for this stuff.
-
I hope they’re building it in a way that could potentially hold F1’s, not that that’s likely, but you never know.

The Cook Government, (all Govs), need to stop using ‘community events’, ‘corporate event space’ as cover-alls to massage public opinion about a proposed specific use venue. Its a race track, and its probably not the worst spot for one, stand by it and make your case.

The concert venue part of this is interesting though, i wonder if this part is down to a need to relax the pressure on the stadiums grass in between uses?

Also i assume Crown will be putting money towards this new venture in their backyard? Seeing as they will be some of the primary beneficiaries. No?.. crickets?.. hmm…
For me, they’d be better building it up near Belmont Park. Much more space and it’s in the same area, so would get most of the benefits.
I certainly wouldn’t want to live in apartments that are right next door to the circuit as it’s currently envisioned.
Do you mean in place of Burswood Racecourse? Or around it? Either way that areas already got development plans
That area is prone to flooding. It’s why such prime real estate so close to the city was undeveloped for over 100 years. Have they somehow addressed the issue of the river rising by a few meters after a month of decent rain?
Exactly what i’ve been thinking! It reminds me of an article i heard a while back about some development near Flemington in Victoria.
Their solve, if i remember correctly, was a wall of concrete, which simply moved the flooding issue further downstream, too bad for people downstream i suppose??
I’m assuming the developers like the idea of concrete, but i wonder if the government has thought that far ahead.

@skribe
It doesn’t seem to be readable to anyone without an account on aussie.zone.It’s just a link to this article. I can confirm this is viewable from other instances, but the trouble is you’re on Mastodon, this is Lemmy.
