Pulling out a bunch of statice today from the patio g-bed and adding / re-doing the soil. Mass planted a few years ago. I’ll keep them pots for a bit in case they go back in but secretly I hope they don’t make it. They’re a real bugger when weeds / grass starts growing through them. I can’t say I’m a huge fan of mass planting (except chilli heh). Much prefer a bit of colourful chaos.

So I’m going to push for a hyper varied bed. It’s raised about waist height, about 1m x 6m and has the watering system feeding it so heaps of different stuff could go in pretty much hands off. Lets see how we go.

I’m a big fan of varied chaos in the garden. Which is good, because chaos is what I’m good at!

I am jealous of your watering system - I have hand watering only with fairly low water pressure, which makes things hard over summer. I look forward to a future with a permanent garden location where I can invest in a good water collection and watering system.

I’ve found those furry/spiky caterpillars hide in the statice.

Ooh are they the sptfires? thankfully haven’t seen those yet.

Feel a bit bad taking the statice out as bees are all over them currently but the only thing I feel looking at the bed is weeding dread.

They demolish the newer leaves, and I’m not game enough to go near them!
