Yikes. My other next door neighbour has just let me know that her car was broken into as well last week and she had a very new model with the new keys.
It’s unsettling to hear that two of cars were broken into. We’re going to have to try and be vigilant and careful.
The police apparently lifted a set of prints from her car and I hope they catch the person responsible for doing this.
I don’t mean to upset/scare you, but in all honesty they probably won’t. Even if they do, it’s fairly likely they’d get off on a sentence most people would deem ridiculously light. Personally, I’d try not to keep up with it; it’s probably bound to cause upset. Baton down the hatches, get a camera or two if you can afford it, buy one of those steering wheel lock things if you have a car, and otherwise make your property look unattractive and like too much hassle to be worth it. Try and keep up on insurance, if you’re in the financial position to
Sorry for my pessimism. From a combination of my own experiences, what I’ve heard from other people, and news stories/crime statistics, there seems to be a lot of burglary at the moment, and the cops are stretched thin. And we seem to kind of have moved away from the punitive/prison model (which arguably is a good thing), but never really put anything else in place

I don’t really have my hopes pinned on anything realistically but I hope my car isn’t the next on the list to be targeted.
The only saving grace for me is my car is older and I leave for work very early in the morning.
